Peculiar perception of Beauty
Plastic Surgery

Decision to change your life
People who
decided to do plastic surgery usually do not accept themselves. We can
distinguish many reasons why people undergo such an operation. They want to be
more worthy taking such a step but is true happiness? Most of them believe that
after all their life will become wonderful all of a sudden. They will feel more
comfortable at a job interview, for example, which is one of the benefits.
Another one might be self –confidence, which
obviously all of us want to have.
“No pain no gain”
Keeping the
perfect look is definitely not easy. It happens that nature interference
follows some serious problems. Captivating miss Argentina Solange Magnano didn’t predict that injecting implants into her buttocks will release
surgical fluid into her circulatory system, lungs and brain what caused death
as a result. Of course this is only one example of many in those days. 20th and
21st centuries are the most lucrative for plastic surgeons.

Living dolls
Going through countless amount of plastic surgery
usually indicates being addicted to pursuing our ideal self. People stacked in
such a trap are called “living
dolls”
who are young women or girls.
Thanks to a special diet, exercise, and a plastic surgery she looks like a
living doll. These girls attract attention of people from all over the world.
The most popular are Wang Jia Yun, Dakota Rose, Lhouraii Li, Anzhelika Kenova,
Andy Santana and Mon Yuka, Anastasiya Shpagina and
Valeria Lukyanova. In addition to an admiring look they are criticized for
endangering their own health.

Improving our
personal image
Most of us want to improve our looks
or more precisely, the way people see us. Sometimes people are obsessive about
their prettiness that’s why some of them
decide to do something about that. There are a lot of existing ways to improve
our personal image but probably the most frequent way of solving the problem is
plastic surgery. The name has its roots in a Greek word “plasticon” and means easily giving information.
At the very beginning plastic surgeries were practiced in India where people
were changing appearance of their noses excessively. A nose there was a symbol of pride and
dignity. Nowadays we have no restrictions to change whatever we want in our
body.
Addictions
We have a lot of
addictions nowadays and taking care of our looks isn’t an exception. A scalpel is
swapped for a Botox toxin injection. Some women are addicted that they take an injection
systematically to remove wrinkles. Patients see results after a few months.
Unfortunately it doesn’t
stay too long and the “Mefisto” appears, which is an unwanted
side effect making their faces look a little bit demonic and miserable.

Cult of children’s beauty
In recent years correction of children’s ears is a real hit.
There will always be a reason for teasing children. Outstanding ears is the
most common thing to laugh down. A child with a complex becomes less confident.
In children’s competitions
girls wear a lipstick, mascara, attachable long curls, artificial teeth, mature
clothing full of splendor. I doubt children should look like this.

First thing that came on my mind when saw article: "OMG this pics are awful" :/
ReplyDeleteHow peoople can do that to themselves? This is disgusting. How can parents do this for their children?! Barbarians! In some circumstances, doctors should refuse surgery or special treatment...
All in all it's always up to somebody what he / she does with ones' body. Going through process of self-actualizing, such a shift in general outlook might become vital in overcoming drawbacks of ones' personality :)

ReplyDeleteWell... frankly speaking in my opinion everything is for people but... there should be some limits. As a meter of fact I'm a fan of working hard for your body not going the easy way (for example liposuction or implants in buttocks).
ReplyDeleteI think plastic medicine is very important let's take for example people after accident - this is the area where plastic surgeries should be used the most.
As Przemek stated in previous comment, everything is for people, but just look at this pictures: https://www.google.pl/search?q=plastic+surgery&es_sm=122&biw=1920&bih=955&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=wYsuVfTGIqWi7AaoioGADA&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=plastic+surgery+fail&revid=1075853276
ReplyDeleteThis is disgusting, they have ever made a show about plastic surgeries: http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/other-shows/videos/truth-be-told-clips-steves-plastic-surgery-addiction/
You should watch it.
Last words about platic surgeries for kids, those mothers should be penalized for doing so much harm to their childrens.
Most of the time it's almost as stupid as this : http://i.ytimg.com/vi/-7WaSFpKEnM/maxresdefault.jpg
End of Topic for me.
Totally agree. Some people exaggerate. They have no taste or they are just sick.
DeleteMost of these photos look terrible. No! All of them are awful. In my opinion plastic surgeries can be possible for people after accidents or injuries of their body. Sometimes face need to be reconstructed to look normal. Plastic surgeries on child is patology! What parents think when they decide to change ears look of the children. Why they decide for the kid and expose them to loss of health. That's really terrible
ReplyDeletePlastic surgery isn’t something bad but it depends on way that we use it. If someone wants to change something in body this is only his decision and money. Of course people take various decision but i`m not a right person to judge they. In my opinion everything is for a people but we need to remember about some limits and good taste. When I look at some pictures that you`ve added to presentation I can’t believe is it real but referring to my previous sentences I will not rate this and it’s all in this case… For the end you`ve made very interesting presentation with clearly form – Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteNice article with few points of view. I haven’t thought too much about plastic surgery and personally I don’t want to have any of them. In my opinion the most important reason to have it is when you had some accident or you are ill. That’s definitely a good opportunity to make someone’s life easier. Of course if somebody wants to do it just because he/she doesn’t accept some part of his/her body that is ok for me. Nonetheless I totally agree with @Przemek if you want to have nice body you should work hard and not going the easy way. Last point but not least: In my opinion plastic surgery(only that one which is made only for ‘beauty’ reasons) should be forbidden for children.

ReplyDeleteIt was kind of hard for me to gauge your position on the subject.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, you write that people believe that plastic surgery will make their lives wonderful all of a sudden which comes off as a set up for discussing the point which, in my opinion, is extremely dubious. But the very next sentence is basically an admission that yes; it’s pretty amazing to become pretty.
I would like to discuss that a bit further. I mean coming from someone who used to be slightly on the larger side (i.e. fat) but later lost the weight and gained some muscle I can totally agree that yes - your appearance is very important. It affects how you think about yourself and in turn, how other people think about you. I think that’s more important than looks alone - you can be fugly and popular the same way you can be extremely beautiful but lacking in personality. How you see yourself (and in turn project yourself outwards) is the most important part. Look at Steve Buscemi - I mean come on, he looks like a toad, but halfway through Boardwalk Empire his appearance improved based on the merits of his personality alone.
Secondly, you write about the children. Do you think it’s ok to perform plastic surgery on kids? I mean if there is a deformity, sure, take a scalpel and go crazy. Outstanding ears was a great example - it’s a medical condition and should be treated. But smaller things that can still be causing complexes? I honestly think those should be left until the kid is old enough to drive to make this decision.
After you are 18? Pfff, go crazy:)
I'm pretty surprised that first plastic surgeries were practiced in India. Do you know in which century it began?
ReplyDeleteI heard Brasil topped the charts of countries with the largest number of plastic surgeries. It's very popular among the 16 years old girls, and is also a frequent gift for birthdays or other occasions. Which is crazy!
Generally, I don't mind nothing about plastic surgeries (when it's in moderation and responsibly), because it's individual case for all of us. But I must agree that sometimes people overdo and get that 'lizard look', which is not attractive at all. That kind of addiction must be very dangerous and it amazes me when surgerons agree to do more operations and work with people like those 'living dolls'. In my opinion, they sometimes forget that they're doctors, who also should care about people's health and mainly focus on making money.
I don't think that correction of children’s ears as something really bad, but I agree that surgery opperations should be banned.
A coupon for plastic surgery? That's insane, it's like telling somebody: "I like you but... Go and fix your face!". It reminds me of cases where husband wasn't satisfied with wife's bust or some other part and send her to surgeon. And she did it! Well on the other side, who listen to someone's orders without thinking? I personally thing that's an affront to her dignity, and that is not normal relationship in a marriage.
DeleteAbout that doctors, I think that it's a delusion, that these surgeons could care less about money than health of their patients. If someone plunged into this world of plastic and botox, then hell, it's for money.
Not so long ago I saw a documentary about “beauty factories” in Venezuela and “quick surgeries” in Thailand (Martyna’s Wojciechowska show – “Kobieta na krańcu świata” http://nakrancuswiata.tvn.pl/wideo,2174,v/wszczepienie-implantow-piersi-w-15-minut,1340541.html), but still it’s still shocking. The same goes with celebrity metamorphoses – I think the most recent one is this made by Renee Zellweger(http://rumorfix.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Untitled-136.jpg and http://i3.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article4474687.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Renee-Zellweger-Main.jpg), but not all plastic surgeries are bad. Sometimes people are ridiculed in school and they do not accept their nose, checks etc. I now that “you are beautiful just the way you are”, but some changes can improve your self-esteem like this one: http://img.izismile.com/img/img5/20120217/640/celebs_with_plastic_surgery_640_30.jpg.
ReplyDeleteSometimes plastic surgeons does miracles, when they “fix” burned people, war victims etc., but I’m aware that this article isn’t about this topic.
This “problem” of plastic surgeries was covered by fabulous animation made by Frederic Doazan called “Supervenus”:
http://www.12fps.net/fr/home/serie/3159/04/slideshow/112959/supervenus-excerpt/?of=3
And to have at least one Family Guy/South Park clip related to the topic:
http://southpark.cc.com/clips/153598/wendy-buys-boobs
To be honest I will never understand this kind of behaviour. I'm not talking about people after some diffrent accidents. I'm talking about helthy people. There is a small group of people who should have a plastic surgery cause of sime kind of mental dissorders.
ReplyDeleteon the other hand I accept tattoos, and they are also kind of permanent body modification. To be hones I'm not sure why I seperate this two things so much :)
I can't understand, and even accept behaviour like parents pushing their childrens. This is sick, this people should be forced to visit some specialist.
article is interesting cause it is related with a very important change in our society.
Well, I believe that people are free to do whatever they want with their money. It's hard for me to say anything on this topic, probably because I really don't care about it :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same as above - I don't care about someone conducting plastic surgeries on him/herself. Or just about anything to spend their money on, unless it impacts my living space :)
ReplyDeleteI knew a couple of girls who were very pretty but had some minor defects, which in my opinion only added to their charm, and decided to get a plastic surgery and took it further than just "fixing" their look.I think that some minor alterations won't do anyone much harm but when you star to look like a living doll it's too much...
ReplyDeleteWe should know our limits whatever we do in our lives. This takes a little bit of time to workout a proper defending system in our brain against things that are tempting, however, it's worth to imply discipline in ourselves, nevertheless this needs a lot of discipline.
DeleteA proper example of fixing one's outlook :)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2218832/Richard-Lee-Norris-face-transplant-Gun-accident-victim-given-amazing-operation-US-doctors.html
Omg. I don't know what to say. Simply I am not confortable with the plastic surgeries. I am kind of hater. I realy don't understand peaople who decide to "fix" their bodies. hmm, ok maybe some of them are understandable - but this is really small group. In my opinion for example liposuction is really pitiful. Have you got big ass and you want to lose it? Go to gym lazybones. This is kind of fake for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd that cult of children's beauty... It is disgusting :/
DeleteThat's a good point of view but we should remember that plastic surgery is not only about improving drawbacks of our general outlook, but also to repair effects caused by illnesses and serious injuries. This is a way to repair one's psyche, especially for those people who hardly go through changes on their appearance and do not really accept themselves. Here is an example of how doctor can repair results of some unfortunate events in our lives. http://www.realself.com/video/facial-reconstruction-after-skin-cancer-see-before-and-after-photos-graphic
DeleteI do agree with @Magdalena but let us remember that in order to repair psyche people should visit psychologist first ;) And maybe that is some solution for abusing plastic surgeries - before the operation itself, patient have to talk with psychologist. Do you think that could work?
DeletePlastic surgery is okey but for people who really does need it. There is always a limit to everything and these photos are just a simple example of how things can go wrong when people abuse opportunities. But think of people who really feel bad about their look, maybe because of some accident, you name it. It should a way to help people not to improve them lolz.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. This is kind of addiction of 21st century to overuse which are supposed to help us. It turns out that we become slaves of ourselves e.g. smartphones, internet, unhealthy food and plastic surgery as well and even more addictive particularly when you have shitloads of money and you are addicted to how you look on everyday basis. Of course it is properly used when it is supposed to repair damages made by an ill-fated accident and here is a proper example to prove this:

ReplyDeleteI agree with all comments about plastic surgery should only be used for people who really have a problem (like deformations, injuries after accident) and also I don't understand parents who improve their children's look too. I get that maybe kids sometimes are babbling about how they would like to have less outstanding ears for example, and they aren't accepting their appearance, but that's normal when you grow up. But parents who agree, or worse who come up with idea to fix their children with scalpel is a nightmare! The best way would be raising your kids the way they'll know that nobody is perfect and at the same time.. that imperfect can be perfect to ;) Things you believe are your flaws, are the same in which someone can fall in love. "If pefect's what you searching than just stay the same.."
ReplyDeletePlastic surgery is a very controversial topic. When you think about it, the first idea is the vision of vain people who do not accept themselves and try to look better. Hollywood stars or celebrities lost in their constant way to reverse the time and to change who they are. Hopefully it is only one, dark side of plastic surgeries. On the other hand, cosmetic surgery can be also a miracle for accidents’ victims or for people suffering from various diseases. Yesterday I watched a TV-document about poor man from Asia suffering from rare disease which was deforming his body. His only way and chance to lead a normal life was plastic surgery. Thanks to anonymous donator he was able to afford it and it changed his life. It was really beautiful story proving that plastic surgeries are not only whim of reach people.
