Snapchat is an application for placing pictures and videos, which are removed after viewing. That was the idea of this application.
Personally I uninstalled and installed it several times, because I thought it was unuseful. For about 2 months I use it more regularly (up to once a day). I do not have many friends on the Snapchat, because it doesn’t work like facebook. It would be difficult to mark the sending of a photo to a hundred people :)
Sometime ago an interesting feature appeared – face swap. Probably thanks to this addition I have not yet thrown this application :) As the name suggests we can swap with faces with another person and I think it is cool and fun.

In addition, different filters appear every day. For example, on the day of St. Patrick's Day you could look like the picture below.
Each such photo can be sent to a friend or inserted into stories. The stories are not visible to everyone as it is for example on facebook
Interestingly, the snapchat has so far been unprofitable and you can buy its shares at the New York Stock Exchange. Shares can be bought for around 20$. Unfortunately from the beginning the shares lost value by nearly 25%.
Snapchat is a constantly evolving application. Added ability to chat with friends, re-see the snap etc. but in my opinion filters are the best. Many applications have copied this functionality. In the aforementioned facebook we have a weak clone. Instagram and Twitter introduce something based on Snapchat’s my story. You can tell that the Snapchat sets the trend
Another thing I wanted to mention is the lack of a web application. It surprised me very much, and over time I understood it. This is a dedicated application for young people. And sometimes I get the feeling that I do not fit in there.
The last thing I wanted to write was a group of programmers. Maybe it's crazy, but it might be useful to somebody. I invited some of these developers to my friends. The link below is over 250, so there is something to choose from.

I think that is...very nice app! I have close-contact with my good friends all time and i can share my moments for example. here i am now, what i eat and whatever. A lot of superstars have a snapchat, so i can see their normal private life and talk with them.

They add new filters almost daily, so there is something to choose from :)

Basically, when Snapchat was founded, it's main functionality was only sending picture which can be seen for certain amount of time. Such a simple idea gathered huge audience all over the world.

– Nothing. The power of this application is being simple and have catchy functionalities. From my side, it offers enough usage features and no more are needed.
The snapchat is contagious and if you start sending photos more often then it will be hard for you to give up. Seriously, my fiance throws pictures there several times a day
DeleteYes, I have. First time, I had installed Snapchat two year ago, what was a big step for me and after six moths I resigned. But, a few months ago I come back and now I take snaps everyday.
ReplyDeleteI think this app is great. In my opinion the idea of limitation of view photos and videos is amazing. From end user side it’s a funny tool to spend free time creatively, especially for me. Snap makes me more fertile. As Rafał wrote, new Snap filter appears everyday, that’s cool. It’s makes this app not to boredom.
I have no idea what can be add to Snap. I think this role is assigned to the authors. I’m not this kind of user, who see every pros and cons. In overall app is awesome for me.

Also Im not into apps such like Twitter or Snapchat, and I have opinion about them, from your presentation. Snapchat's filters sounds quite interesting, but only that. Yes, I do :) As a matter of fact I'm using it right now. I just send photo to my few friends. I'm on a vacation right now and it's a great opportunity to share a little bit of my journey with them, without saying anything :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great application. You can share a little bit of your world. If you're experiencing some exciting moment, but you don't want to spend any time on the phone, you just taking picture and show it.
I don't really know what I could change. Let's leave it to the authors :)

I was using Snapchat application. At some point I was sending up to 10 messages a day. I consider this app to be dangerous. When I was using Snapchat I could see my friends´ messages for 5 sec. and then the photo gets removed. I had many doubts if photos sent by me were sufficiently secured and if no one could really see my messages. I haven´t heard about any data leak from Snapchat though. Creating my profile on a social media platform I obviously accepted the Terms and Conditions not reading them, thus I don´t know how it works technically. My interest in this app grew very fast and then after a short time I stopped using it. It got me bored very quickly.

It's nice for fast sharing photos/moments, but is it really necessary app? We have different app for sharing photos, different for texting, different for sharing videos, different for sharing audio etc.
Come on, merge it all into one, instead of wasting time for switching between them :P

Maciej I have the same problem with my Android device. Probably a problem with the camera drivers in your rooted phone.

Well, I just don't care about it ;) Maybe if I was interested in making money, I would buy shares on the stock exchange. But I've heard that this hype around snapchat and other mobile apps is simillar dot.com bubble that bursted around 2000 ;)
Also, I've heard that snapchat is so popular among youngsters beacuse facebook is for old people now. You know, every generation whats to differenciate from the previous one. You don't want to hang around with your peers and parents at the same place, even if the place is only virtual :)

Of course I use Snapchat every day. In the future I think that it will outrun Facebook. But Snapchat lost a little on the fame because entered similar functions as on the Instagram. In my opinion they should do something with adding friends. Simplify it. But it is more upgraded than previously. Personally I like this aplication very much. It is fantastic way to give someone what do you do in this moment through photos. I don't like only one thing. They add function that you can add photos from your mobile phone library.

I don’t understand the idea behind. It allows to present to other people a photo, which is available to be seen only for certain time, usually several seconds. I’m trying to find a useful implementation of this feature, but I can’t find any. The only thing which comes to my mind is actually a series of scandals where teachers were sexually harassing their students by sending them naked photos of themselves, but I wouldn’t say it’s a good example of how this application should be used :P
Besides that – whatever is put into the internet is never going to be lost. As far as I know there are plenty of ways to ‘cheat’ Snapchat and save photos shared by other users. So in case you’re sharing something which is personal, and you don’t want other people to see it after some time… Why the heck would you use Snapchat? :)

I’m not going to recommend any, as I wouldn’t highly rate this application in general. Therefore it’s hard for me to asses in which direction creators should go. I prefer using Instagram, and none of new functionalities of Snapchat like face swap is going to make me change my mind ;)
I haven't used Snapchat. For me this idea is not for me. I do not understand why I should delete photos taken.
ReplyDeleteI can feel idea, if you want to make some joke. Maybe it is useful not leave any marks. But I do not really believe in such possibility. If you really want save photo, you always can do that. So I never have certainty that photo was deleted and will not come in hands I do not want.
If I cannot be sure that photo was deleted, I do not see difference with classic photo app.

I think that this app is useful for many, but not for me. I'm older than people borned in 2000, the major Snapchat userbase (Wikipedia).

I agree with those, who think that additional functions could make this app useless. Many apps went that way and now are bloated and sluggish (for example CD burning software Nero).
