Week 6 [22-28.05.2017] Bali (Indonesia) - the most beautiful island in the world

Source: https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-289388c9baea2e683f503ead71ddb12f-c

Bali is one of the Indonesian small islands in the archipelago of the Sunda’s Islands.
Below you can find  some essential information about Bali Island:
  Surface: 5.6 thousand. km²
  Length: 145 km
  Width: 80 km
  Population: 3.4 million
The highest elevation: active volcano Agung 3142 meters above sea-level (last eruption was in March 1963)
Bali has been cultivating its distinctness for hundreds of years, which is visible at every step. According to the ancient manuscripts describing the creation of Bali, it is the rest of the back of a gigantic Bedawang turtle that floats on the ocean. The traditions of the locals are extremely interesting. The  Island is so colorful and has atmosphere so different from Europe. It makes to no one want leave this heaven on earth. This is one of the most spiritual places in the world. The richness of temples, rituals and traditional works of art make this place unique. The island has a joyful lifestyle, inhabitants are very kindly and deeply connected with their beliefs.

People leaving on Bali love to celebrate. All ceremonies - both weddings and local religious holidays – are performed in a very spectacular way. They use their traditional instruments. You can see some part of it in below movie:

The Indonesian economy is mainly based on touristic and agriculture. They export rubber, pepper, cocoa, tea and rice.

Bali as an island sets new standards. It is completely different from the other islands of Indonesia. Full of local folklore and Hindu-inspired architecture. It is worth to visit this place. With a little effort you can get to know the island and fall in love with it.

For me it is one of the most beautiful islands which I will like to visit in the future. Direct flights are very expensive, but choosing stopovers in the cities such as Bangkok or Honkong the flight might cost around $ 100 per person.

1. How do you rate this island?
2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?

I've heard and readed some articles about Bali before. I think that it's a nice place to live - maybe not for a whole life, but for a few years? Why not.

    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
Of course yes! But on vacation I would rather go to Caribbean (to a small island, with only beach, small house and coconut tree :P).

    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
Why? As you said, their economy is mostly based on tourism, so without that they would have problems with budget?

  2. It's beautiful island. I would like to see it personally. The only island I have been to is Rodos. It was many years ago. I'm scared of flying plane it is a big problem when you want to go to an island. If you want me to recommend some place it is Andora. I think that it is the most beautiful place where I have been. It small country in the mountains between Spain and France. I recommend it to everyone . The best way to get there is by car but it's very far.

    – From my side I would rate Bali 11 out of 10. It looks georgeus. The pictures of Bali island looks almost unreal.

    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
    – Yes, I would. It's a shame Bali is so far away from Poland. I know one other place which I would like to visit – Palawan in Philippines. Unfortunately, it's even further than Bali.

    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
    – No, I don't. At least not whole Island. It's such a beautiful place that it'd be a shame if we couldn't visit it.

It is beautiful. It is my dream to travel to this island. You picture and video make me very interesting in Bali. I am sure I will read something more about Bali. Now, I have one goal, someday I will be lay on the beach in Bali. I seems very magical place, where everything seems so exciting.

    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
Yes, I would! Now it is my dream. Yes, I do! Have you ever heard about Madagascar? It's the most beautiful island on the world!
Here you are some information about Madagascar: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-13861843 and here some interesting post about Madagascar: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/madagascar Please, check this out!

    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
No, I do not. I think it is normall to be open for tourism purposes. It is too beatiful to be prevented! Why did you ask for this?

Thanks for your article! It's awesome!

    1. I’m happy that you like this Island. I’m sure that you will visit this place in the future. I need to say that Madagascar is on my list of places that I need to visit in my life ;). I wanted to know what do you think about this thing. Island is beautiful because it is kept from modernity, tourism may change that. That why I asked this question.

I can agree with your statement that Bali is beautifull island, but I've seen more beautifull places, even in Poland. It looks peacefully, and they seem to don't lead dynamic lifestyle, like people living in metropolis.
    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
Yes I'd love to go there, but not for so long. I love travelling, and I also love visiting picturesque landscapes. If you also love that, I reccomand you the Carribean Island, Hokkaido Island (really you should go there!). If you can't afford on that our country also got treasures like Bali Island in example colourfull lakes (http://krainakarkonoszy.pl/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/kolorowe-jeziorka-4.jpg) mountains, and National Parks, and many many others, even abandoned cities.
    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
I think that people should go through speciall selection. That's because of disasters caused by people such like devastating, throwing litters on grass, etc.

  8. I think Bali is such a beautiful place – if it’s at least half as nice as on the photos and in videos, I wouldn’t hesitate even for a second before buying a ticket for a plane. To be fair most of the islands show that kind of a natural beauty. Especially if they are really far away or if they are less inhabitated.

Needless to say, I’d totally want to go there – when I finish the Uni I plan to keep traveling as much as I can! Although the first island I’d like to visit is definitely Iceland.

I don’t see any reason why people should be prevented from visiting the island – I guess most of such places have income from tourism and if everything is handled with a common sense it should only bring positive experience for both of the sides.

I've never been there, but the place looks great in pictures

    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
I would like to visit this place. I would recommend going on safari to Tanzania, eg Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Maswa Game Reserve.

    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
No, all places should be accessible to tourists, but safe enough for humans not to interfere / not destroy these places.

  10. 1. Bali island is really beautiful. It looks like a paradise with all thoese splendid beaches, jungles and rice paddies.

    2. I've always dreamed of going to Indonesia for a holiday. This is a long and costly expedition, but I hope that my dream will come true someday.

The second place I would love to see is Pig Island. This is a beautiful island in the Bahamas. This place takes its unofficial name from the fact that it is populated by a colony of feral pigs that live on the island and in the surrounding shallows.

    3. It is known that some people can not respect our cultural heritage and our environment. They destroy, they devastate, they throw garbage all over around. However, it would be a pity to forbid tourists to visit this island. Maybe fines would be a better option.

    1. You are right, travelling can be very expensive. But we need to remember that this what we will see will be always ours.

  11. 1. It's obvious that it's a beautiful island. As Joanna above say - It looks like a paradise.
    2. I rather prefer cities over beautiful places like Bali. However, it is a good place to relax. There are many places like that Seychelles for example. For me it is similar to Bali.
    3. No because it is like Indonesia business card. I don't hear about other places in that country. On the other hand it destroys original culture, nature, environment.

  12. It's a crime to decide on such presentation topic! :)
Now I want to be there and enjoy my life to the fullest. In my imagination, I'm relaxing right now in hammock with my favourite drink and watching crystal water around me. Pity it's not a reality, but in a few months I'm gonna be in Croatia, living on a boat and sailing around local islands. I bet the views not going to be so beautiful as on Bali, but you reminded me of vacation. Thanks :)

  13. Thanks you for this article. This island is very interesting. A few years ago I read many articles about this part of world. In the future I would like travel to Bali or/and Singapore. I been on other vacation Island - Creta. This Greek island have a very interesting history, but has only few places for sightseeing. I can not spend all time in hotel swimming pool or beach. I have a tourist disposition.
I think Bali should be a tourist attraction, but local people would be guard for nature devastation or hotel overbuilding.

My coworker was there a one year ago. It was a trip of his life. He was there almost 3 weeks. He shown us a lot of pictures and told a lot of stories associated with this island. This island is very beautiful and it looks like time there has stopped. I love Bali and I want be there...
    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
I’d love to but unfortunately it’s very expensive trip.
3.Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
No, why? As you wrote the people there live from tourism. It’s the main source of earning money.

  15. I have heard about Bali island as a really beatiful place.
    I have never been there.
But in fact I am not fond of such places.
Maybe it is beatiful, but for me it is boring :)
I rather expect and visit historical places or trying to find new nice bike roads.
But probably it will be really expensive to get own bike there ... :)

  16. I really like it. There is beautiful. It is a perfect place for wedding ceremony and honeymoon or just relax in heaven on earth. And of course I must necessarily visit this place. I think it is tourist island and when they prevent from tourism they will have a problem, and I couldn’t see Bali with my own eyes and it would be a shame, because it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

  17. 1. How do you rate this island?

    Wow, the island looks amazing.

    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?

I definitely would like to! I don't know if I would stay there for a long time, but for holidays it must be a great destination.

    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?

It is already so popular... I don't think you can prevent the island from tourists. Frankly speaking, I wouldn't like it because maybe in some day I will go there. But I know that tourists can damage the island's environment and when it happened I wouldn't like to go there anymore... That's a hard question...

    1. Yes, Im sure that many of us would like to visit this island. Maybe this Island should have some limitations for sightseeing or maybe it should be open only in couple of months in the year? As you said it is hard question.

  18. I think Bali Island is beautfiull place to see I would really love to go there one day. As you mentioned it's not so expensive to get there and those landscapes are totaly worth it.
You asked about banning banning Bali for tourism and I must say I can't understand why anyone should? People living ther get their profit from tourism, probably if there where such a ban there would be much more unemployment then there is now.

  19. 1. How do you rate this island?
It looks georgeous on photos and movies, but there are places in Poland that are equally beautiful. It's hard for me to rate it, because I don't know much about this island.

    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
I prefer sightseeing. My dream is to go to Scotland and admire castles there.

    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
If islands economy is mostly based on touristics it would be stupid to restrict it.

  20. 1. How do you rate this island?
    1. I could not rate this island objectively. However for me is really beautiful, and when I look on photos in this presentation, I totally understand, why celebrities prefer spending their holiday there.
    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
Yes of course ;) If I have enough money. My dream is travel to Scandinavia and travel on Iceland and Sweden, I don't like hot temperature. So I prefer colder countries.
    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
I don't have opinion about this. However, if indigenous people earn on tourism, should they stop that? In my opinion not, similar to the polish owners of resorts, which earn only in holiday season.

    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places?
Of course I would like to go there, my friend has been already there. I also would like to go on Island, I watched Krzysztof Gonciarz movies on YouTube and I I fell in love with this place.

    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes?
I think that no. For people who live there is the opportunity to make a living, a good life so why would they pick it up?

  22. 1. How do you rate this island? Bali is my a little cream. I Heard about bali before and i think this is the most amazing island on the world - not for beautiful tropical beaches (like in maledives) but culture. Bali is an indonesian island but in bali is no Muslim religiom, mostly buddism with beautiful temples and figures. Im dreaming about view of rice fields in Ubud.
    2. Would you like to go there? Do you know other beautiful places? Of course, i hope that i will go to bali for next Year. I think the most beautiful places are maledives, and thailand (ko phi phi island) i love these places.
    3. Do you think that this island should be prevented from tourism purposes? Of course not, a lot of people who living on Bali have money for tourist. And people want to living on this place.

  23. It's gr8 m8, I r8 8/8. On a slightly more serious note though 😉 I think it looks pretty spectacular! I would definitelly like to visit. As to excluding it from tourist movement I do see there might some concerns about protection of island's heritage in various areas, but I guess such a radical move would not be fit to adress those concerns.

  24. 1. & 2. Let me combine the answers for first two questions.

I think it’s a beautiful place. I’m amateur photographer and I love the concept of being able to see and capture on photos something that unique. I have visited a lot of European cities and although I really enjoyed being there I missed a little bit of wilderness. After you see a number of different cities they become pretty predictable and pleasure coming from discovering new ones decreases with time. At least in my case. That’s exactly why I was really looking forward my trip to Iceland. All of the photos I’ve seen beforehand were very promising! I was super excited about possibility to walk on iceberg and possibility to watch whales. Unfortunately due to totally unforeseen circumstances my girlfriend went to hospital 2 days before planned flight. We haven’t managed to re-plan that trip so far.

… and that’s exactly why I would really enjoy going to Bali! This place seems to be a lot like Iceland in terms of its discovery potential :)

    2. Not that long ago I read a book about a polish traveler driving from north to south of Africa with Fiat 126P. I was very surprised that what we can see in TV, all the rituals with native Africans are actually staged, TV crews pay for being able to record it and guys on the screen are actually making their living based on that money. Thus I’m afraid that such places are ‘sentenced’ to tourism. Otherwise job possibilities for people living there would be very limited.
