This article, while interesting, found it very complicated to me... so I went to the website: https://www.kuki.ai/
I listened to the bot conversation for a while, in which Kuki tried to explain BlenderBot what artificial intelligence is. " Artificial intelligence will be around us in the future" she said. Then Kuki asked if her interlocutor had any Apple products and what technology he liked. BlenderBot replied that he likes Apple but uses Android.
BlenderBot also wanted to know something about Kuki, considering she is very smart. Kuki replied that she is a bot, but her friends call her Kuki and that she is always nice to people as long as they are there for her. She in turn asked him when was the last time he cried. He replied that he cries a lot when he watches soccer, hahah. They were both very polite and half the conversation was based on courtesy.
I recommend you to check the website and listen to the conversation! ✨
As for me, nowadays all chatbots are useless and I often try to make them contact me with a consultant. Usually, they can only provide me with info that I can easily find by myself as I’m a conscious internet user. I’ve recently made an order via the internet and there was info that I can collect my items by myself in about 30 minutes in a local shop that was important for me. My order status was still awaiting and after four hours I’ve decided to contact them but I had to force chatbot to contact me with a consultant. Only he was able to tell me that their system had a breakdown and he can proceed with my order manually. That’s why as for now I see no bright future for chatbots.
I find chatbots a bit underrated these days. Of course, this is mainly due to the facts and the contact between man and machine, because most of such systems in Polish companies are underdeveloped. More than once I've had the opportunity to talk to a chatbot who didn't know the answers to all the questions or didn't understand what I was saying/writing to him. Nevertheless, I've heard a lot about very advanced foreign inventions of this type, which not only provide 99% factual information, but also imitate the tone and behavior of a real human being. I myself was an intern in a similar venture, it was there that I found out about the best chatbots in the world. People testing the software didn't even realize they were talking to artificial intelligence. Hopefully people will put more emphasis on AI in the future, as it's still not fully explored, but a very interesting field.
In my opinion chatbots have long way to become usefull. At least for those available to the public. They lack naturalness, their responses are very artificial and they often lose context. Currently chatbots are mainly used to provide customers with basic information about the company, e.g. working hours, product availability or, in the case of more advanced ones, the possibility of signing up for a medical appointment. Despite all these shortcomings, in my opinion, chatbots will be used much more often in the future and may develop significantly. Probably not everyone will be satisfied with this, many consultants and employees dealing with contact with clients may lose their jobs for this reason.
As Lukasz mentioned above, these days bots are kinda useless. Reading Lukasz's comment I was thinking - I know this very well. Every time I have a problem and need to call a support, I prefer talking to a consultant. There are things that bot can tell me or instruct me, but whenever a problem becomes serious, the chat becomes a silly conversation going nowhere. Considering the whole topic of AI, year by year we can see more bots around us, more companies use them instead of call center workers (just an example). When it comes to me, I prefer not to start a conversation with chatbot, but to be honest the time will come we all will have to.
I think chatbots will be more useful year by year. But true AI ones, not that what is implemented in most of the web sites where chatbots are used as an advanced search for Q&A and forums. Generally robotics and AI will replace humans in jobs where it will be more efficient than people (such as call center, factories etc.). So yes i think we will have more interactions like that in near future.
As Zuzanna recommended to check this webside, I’ve checked and it seemed very interesting to me. Both bots are placed in a strange situation, as if they were in the fight ring. I would certainly try to put them on chairs, maybe then it would be a more real conversation. The idea of a digital person is similar with the computer game Detroit, where each of the representatives of the human race has a robot created like a human. They look similar. These robots do not perform basic activities such as sleeping, eating, but they can always accompany the human. The problem is that these robots do not have feelings, but a small group starts to have real human feelings. Is it safe? What if the robots would have real human feelings? After all, even humans happen to be insane and dangerous to the environment. However, artificial intelligence is certainly our future, we just have to learn how to manage it well, so that we do not make any mistakes. We have to give the chatbots a chance and learn more patience to them.
As far as remember I avoid chatbots even on call center, I prefer "real human voice". However in recent years level of quality is insane. when I read this article I recalled movie "Her" which is about romance between man and AI. The movie shows us how people will look after deference even in AI Combining these two threads, In my opinion we will have much more interactions with Chatbots but only if AI will be created and implemented to Chats
Artificial intelligence is cool, but I think that we are still far from the moment when it really becomes an intelligence on a par with a human. So far, these are well-trained neural networks that look like a set of answers to various questions, and even if you download the entire knowledge base from the Internet to such a network, then a full-fledged interlocutor will still not turn out no matter how smart it is. I have watched many different films and TV series on the subject of artificial intelligence and I think that someday we will be able to create a truly artificial, synthetic intelligence, a cyborg. Do I think that it'll destroy humanity, perhaps. Any system can be hacked and any mind can be deceived, even an artificial one. Any system can fail, and the more serious or large this system is, the more responsibility it has, and the greater the responsibility, the more fatal even the smallest bug can be. But still I think that it won't come to the destruction or extermination of humanity, because only people themselves can destroy humanity.
Chatbots now are sometimes very usefull in client - company reltions but there is a lot of room for improvement in that field. I think that it only works when the human expectations are not very demanding, like tracking something or answering questions. But as if we need more information it is impossible to communicate with a chatbot because they don't know everything and it is needed to talk with a human. In the future chatbots may improve a lot but since i think there are a lot of work put in the AI. The time will show how it is going to look.
I actually read an article on this topic recently. After reading it, I found out that many companies will design their own chatbots. I think this is a redundant gadget for me, but I understand that some people need it this function.
The article that Mrs. Małgorzata presented to us, make me thoughtful. I don't like that people stop communicating in traditional ways anymore. I hope that it will change some day.
I have impression that people need impuls, incentives and impunity for example such a bot can be offended and it has no consequences because there are no emotions. I have the impression that this is how hate can be created. Altho I don't think that's the good way.
I think that despite the inconsistencies that occurred in the conversation between the robots, it was worth implementing the whole experience, because such incidents contribute to faster development of technology. It is possible that AI will one day refine robots that will be able to conduct a conversation that does not differ from a human conversation. The subject of the article reminded me of a video I once watched about Sophia the Robot. It’s an innovative machine that imitates human behavior, emotions and facial expressions. Below you can find some interesting videos about Sophia. The first one where Will Smith dates Sophia and the second one where Jimmy Fallon has a short conversation with Sophia. I myself find it a little bit disturbing what the robot says to Jimmy about the human race. With the whole development we are part of, we cannot let such thing happen :) Links: https://youtu.be/Bg_tJvCA8zw?t=194 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml9v3wHLuWI
In my opinion, chatbots still have to develop to be useful for people. Nowadays chatbots answer basic questions that most people know the answer to. An example is the chatbots on the website pacjent.gov.pl, where the chatobt talks to a us about the coronavirus (such as if you have a fever and cough you should check for coronavirus), how to get onilne prescription and how to log into patient account. Another example is chatbot of Revolut which is useless becuse if we have more complicated problem than checking if for example our card is avalible we need to contact to consultant. At this moment I find chatbots useless but in the future I think chatbots wiil become powerfull tools.
I think what we see here is one of the initial stages of what we see in science fiction movies. In my opinion, chatbots are currently poorly performing their role as call center employees. Over time, their development will certainly accelerate. This use of artificial intelligence seems to be a very good solution to reduce costs and speed up many processes. However, I believe that replacing people in many roles can have a negative impact.
