Week 2 [23-29.10.17] Incredible Talent

Incredible Talent

In this world there are large amount of people with rare talents. Unfortunately most of talent shows show more singers rather that these kind of people. It is very hard to them to become popular. They often show in auditions, competitions, or play they own small art-show on the streets. Spectators are amused, but artist get rare opportunity to get sponsor, for them it is like lucky strike. In my opinion TV stations should be focused on this kind of people, who do amazing things, not only singers or dancers, because they got specified shows like i.e. ABDC (American Best Dance Crew- last season was in 2015), Idol, Dancing with the stars. Do you agree that Talent shows should be not for dancers and singers? Underneath I’ll show you some short amazing and funny movies.
This is incredible duet father and son – Sebastian and Rejean. They cooperation is on very high level. In fact Rejean previous shows were solo, but when his son grew up little more, he  started to teach him the art of juggling.

Another short movie shows 13-year old Darci Lynne, who is ventriloquist, singer and comedian. Indeed she sings but mostly we can see her connecting voice with ventriloquism and it is amazing. She won one of the edition of America’s Got Talent, so her success is just a beginning of future.

Here’s performer who made big success, when I saw his show I thought “what is he doing”. He is speed painter – D.Westry. He paints upside-down and without looking.

How about magic? Is it some kind of talent or just trick, which made us a fool? I think it is kind of talent, which makes people amused. Here you have magician Steven Frayne. You may know him from stage name – Dynamo. He had to work hard to become popular. His fascination of magic comes from his grandfather.

Share your opinion about text and ask question:
  1. Do you think that dancers and singers should ONLY go for dancing and singing shows and leave “talent shows” for people with rare talent?
  2. Do you have or know somebody with unusual talent?

  1. 1. I’ve got your point. Personally I’m not into dancing (wooden legs) and I just don’t like to watch dancers. They always reminding me how terrible dancer I am… So I can sign up for the petition to ban dancers from talent shows. OFC if you’ll make one. :P Because I don’t know how to look good on dance floor I’m conscious of that fact: dancing is still talent. I have no idea how to tell any dancer to take part ONLY in dance competitions...
    2. If we talk about people with magic skills, I know one. I think that most of you already heard of him. Franek from “Magia Uliczna” YT channel. He get famous by transforming cup of coffee into cup of coins. Look at that smile… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8FN3uTH8vs That’s fabulous talent same as the performer. He can do things like this and he still stay very modest person.

    1. Maciej if you want with pleasure I could teach you how to dance :) I like dancing, but I'm sick of it in talent shows. I can make one but we need over 500 thousand of signatures, will you help me? :D
I heard about him, he is quite good :) did he show you some of his secrets?

    2. Secrets are secrets... if he show me anything it will lose all of its magic. I don't even ask him how he do these tricks :P

  2. 1. Yes, please :D
There is only one problem. There are talents that you can show on television, and there are those that you can not. An example may be my profession. If I'm a talented programmer, can I go to such shows? Unfortunately no, because it is boring for average viewer. Besides how I could present something in three minutes? So it's better to show someone who is dancing or singing. Unfortunately it gets a bit boring. I personally admit that I watched 2 seasons 'Mam talent'. Now which season is it? 10?
I think every one of us has talent. I know many people who do well in life. But the most I adore my fiancé who is with me almost 7 years. This is talent! :)

    1. Dear Rafał ofcourse you can :) Science is also shown in talent shows. Check out Nick Uhas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m-E8h-Sobw
He shows that science is some kind of talent :) So if you got any interesting idea of something connected with your proffesion just try :) 3 minutes for programmer it can be easy in hacking something :D
With your good sense of humour you can try in talent show :D Congratulations for you and your fiancé :) I wihsh you all best

  3. I must say i have never watched any of those "talent shows" and could not care less who takes part in them. In my opinion if judges admit access to singers and dancers they must think that they are somewhat interesting to watch.
I don't know anyone with a "rare talent". I think that you can have predispositions in one field or another, but you still have to train hard and sacrifice a lot of time to be any good in it. Same with dancers and singers.

    1. I believe first time I've heard it about making comicbooks, that talent is 10% of success, 90% is hard work. And as Jacek mentioned, you can be gifted in some way, for example have a good reflexes, but what you do about it is up to you. You can become a goalkeeper, fencer or neither of them. I can't say much about talent shows because I don't find them interesting and for me there is no difference if they let dancers there or not.

    2. Jacek - indeed it is talent but singers and dancers got they own specified shows and besides they fulfill another shows.

    3. MW- yes everybody got talent, but ieg. goalkeeper are also admired by football fans.

  4. 1. Totally agree. The talent shows should ban singers and dancers. There are a lot of other shows for them. To be honest we have a lot of talented singers and dancers so it's not so unusual and entertaining like for exmple the juggling vide you have posted.
2.Unfortunately not. I personally don't know anybody with extraordinary talent

    1. How about you Karol? Do you think you have some talent?
I'm sure that you have some, maybe it is hidden? :D

  5. The problem I have with talent shows is that they're designed for scenic talents only. That's the main reason why dancing and singing (along with magic tricks and acrobatics) dominate them. I would not recommend excluding singing and dancing from them, because we might find ourselves with lack of sensible candidates for such shows. :)
As for unusual talents... I can't think of any right now, but I guess that might be because more often I find myself hooked by somebody's passion about something, rather than talent itself.

    1. I don't think that you have right at all. If you get into this subject you can see that some people appear in talent shows without scenic talents. Sometimes you can see scientists or painters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zLa-o7ZeiQ (girl painting with sand)
Maybe if less participants be in this kind of talent shows it could become more interesting.

  6. Talent shows is good idea for promoting our skills. Many persons have nonmedial skills (programming, making wooden houses etc). They do not need any talents shows.

My friend learns to play harp from the baby. She is the best player in Poland, despite being a teenager. She has appeared on television and since then has had many commercial appearances. Talent shows can be helpful for non popular skills.
In my opinion any people can learn play an any instrument. It is work, many, many work years.

    1. Wow that's impressive, I admire your friend. Yes by hard work you make your skills better and better. Musicians and acrobats have to their skills, everybody have to.
What do you think how you can promote unusual skill?

  7. 1. Talent shows on tv will show you what is best selling: dancing and singing. And you probably will not change that easily. Fortunately, we have something like the internet and here we can search for gems with talent;)
    2. My colleague is a photographer, I am delighted to see how she is able to pick a frame, even in a place that at first glance seems normal. I think it is true talent, perceiving something that others cannot see.

    1. Could you show her portfolio? I really want to see her photographs.
Yes it is hard to change it, mostly people only talk about that but not scream for some changes :)

  8. I totally agree with You. This may sound weird and unfair but in my opinion dancers and singers have very 'easy' talent and unfortunately the most entertaining for a tv viewer what generates big amount of money for tv stations. It also plays on emotions. For example a very young girl with a good voice has better chance to win a program than magician or amazing, skilled juggler. They are taking a chance from people with other more original and rare talents. Your point is right. There are shows like The Voice, You Can Dance which focus on these people.

My friend is very good at.. shuffling cards. He's doing a lot of tricks and it looks very spectacular.

    1. I can add that some singers with sad past have more opportunity to win. Indeed they have very easy, because they have many chances "not that show so I'll get to another, and another etc."

  9. 1. I’m not sure if I can agree with you. I think dance and sing is a beautiful talent. I hope be the one who can dance. If you’d like to be so precise, you couldn’t make division into dancers, singers and others. It’s sounds weird and it’s not complete. It’s hard to compare magicians with people who are ventriloquists, isn’t it? Maybe the best way is to create separate talent shows? Have you ever thought about your topic in this way? I’ve heard a lot of people’s opinions that dance and singing is not a for overall talent shows, but as I said I can’t agree.
    2. Unfortunately not, I wish I know but I think someone who comment your article can know somebody with unusual talents, so I’m staying in touch to meet some interesting personalities!

  10. I can't agree with you, because separate talent show are for singers and dancers and when you also separate magicians, painters, ventriloquist etc. program schedule wouldn't fit all in and in short future all talent shows could be delated. Maybe that would be better solution or maybe not, because we couldn't see such rare talents. Look from this side singers and dancers got they own shows and want to get into talent shows. Show me at least 1 episode of talent shows when singers and dancers don't appear. Maybe do you have rare talent?

  11. 1. I do think that talent singers and dancers shouldn't be allowed to compete in the talent shows. There is literally few times more dancing/singing shows than there is talent shows and I think that everyone should get equal chances. There is plenty of people with rare talents other than dancing and singing.
    2. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with special skills.

  12. Please, NO! I'm so bored with the next person singing "Strange world". There are so many activities, We should not restrict talent just for some of them. In these times with so much options and recipes for live people discover so much talent in them selves. Whole internet, youtube, facebook they are full of movies with incredible humans. Let's give them chance !

No :( I know people with special skills but generally they are not talented.

  13. I have never watched any talent show. I dont like this kind of programmes and really dont care about those people. I don’t even have a tv. I think I am just a very very sad and lonely person. Sorry.
Unfortunately I don’t recall knowing personally anyone who would do funny or interesting things
like dancing, singing or painting upside down.
But I remember one guy.. He’s a natural!

  15. The truth about television in general is that it gives the public exactly what they want to see. It's meant to be an easy and not demanding form of entertainment. Talent shows are dedicated to viewers who just want some quick and effortless fun. Singing and dancing are easy to watch and listen to - no wonder operas and ballets have been so popular since ages - not to mention contemporary show business. I'm not underestimating other performers' talents - just trying to understand the causes. Maybe creating dancing-and-singing-free shows is not such a bad idea. It would definitely add some diversity to these programmes.
Unfortunately I haven't met anyone with unusual scenic abilities, but each of my friends has some beautiful talent:)
