Today, technology is progressing forward with such a ridiculous speed that i am sure we will figure out a way to traverse world with speed comparable to that of Concorde or even faster. There are a couple of companies working on solving this conundrum. There is Boom (https://boomsupersonic.com/) with more traditional approach of an airplane or our good old (well, not really) crazy SpaceX with rocket city-to-city commute (https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/29/16383048/elon-musk-spacex-rocket-transport-earth-travel).
I'd like to fly in the Concorde just for the experience of take-off and landing. The acceleration must be exhilarating! I am too young to have flown in one, i barely remember the crash.
Questions to discuss: · Do you think we will ever fly commercially with supersonic speeds, or will the world settle down with what is already achieved in that matter? · Would you fly a Concorde if it was reinstated to service, provided you had the money for the flight? · Or maybe you had a chance to fly this majestic plane?
Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to fly a Concorde, but I would like to, despite I probably would be also a little afraid of it. I think it is very sad that various great projects which can push our civilization into new levels are so easily dropped only because lack of money. In fact, there are plenty sources of money in the world if only somebody at the top would care about development of the civilization. Fortunately we have one such person nowadays - Eleon Musk. With his past, present and future potential achievements, pr maybe yet with next generations, I believe, someday we will be able to travel much faster than sound, not only by plane, but also by spacecrafts, or on the ground, underground and even under water... If only humanity won't destroy itself before :/
I would also like to notice, that there is a project called 'Hyperloop' which aims to allow people to travel with speed near to the speed of sound by onground means of transport. What's more, in the past, there were nazi projects in Owl Mountains in Poland, trying to construct an UFO-like flying vehicles, able to fly with large speed, and they partially afford that (you can read more facts and evidences on this matter under works of Mr. Igor Witkowski).
Do you think we will ever fly commercially with supersonic speeds, or will the world settle down with what is already achieved in that matter? - Yes, I think we will and not only fly, but we will also break supersonic speed in other means of transport. Let's take Hyperloop as an example. It's of course not here yet, but in theory it should achive velocity around supersonic speed. Taking into account that technological progress is ongoing and will probably never stop, I can't seee a reason why supersonic it's a limit. In the future we will travel a lot faster.
Would you fly a Concorde if it was reinstated to service, provided you had the money for the flight? - Definitely. Why shouldn't I? It's not less safer than current commercial aircrafts and according to the article flying Concorde was a lot comfortable and quicker. I can't see a reason why not.
Or maybe you had a chance to fly this majestic plane? - Unfortuantely not, but I'm looking into future and I'm sure that one day I will be able to fly Concorde or even faster aircraft.
I think every part of our life is progressing technically so it probably will be. Humans want to make things better, bigger, faster, stronger so there's 99% possibility to develop this technology. In true way, i don't like to fly. So if there's a need I can fly. But I'm pretty sure I don't do it with pleasure. I don't really remember Concord. I was very young when it stopped flying.
Do you think we will ever fly commercially with supersonic speeds, or will the world settle down with what is already achieved in that matter? I think it's possible but it will be expensive for the average person.
Would you fly a Concorde if it was reinstated to service, provided you had the money for the flight? Why not. I think it was good plane, faster and not less safer than modern ones. Accidents happen daily in various modes of transport.
Or maybe you had a chance to fly this majestic plane? I didn't have this opportunity.
I don’t think we settle down and do nothing. People are very creative. I’m sure even now there is some company, maybe even big, which is working on supersonic speeds in planes. In my opinion it’s great that everyone can work on it. Maybe concorde would killed because od economic reasons but that a beautiful example how market is working and how looks need of customers. For that times, concorde was to expensive, even if it was launched in rich countries. Maybe now it’s a time for supersonic trips. I’m waiting for this with excitement. I’d like to be in Australia in a few hours and thanks for supersonic it could be the truth. I’m not interested in planes, but this article makes me curious about planes crashes and I watch some videos on YouTube. I don’t have any minds which will be surprising but I think that planes in overall are majestic, every kind of it.
-Do you think we will ever fly commercially with supersonic speeds, or will the world settle down with what is already achieved in that matter? -Yes, I think it's only a matter of time when this kind of transportation will be possible for us. The economic reasons were pretty serious for Concorde but to think about it, nowadays we have equal or more untypical services, and they open for common (well, maybe for uncommonly rich) people - like Zero G flights or commercial spaceflights.
-Would you fly a Concorde if it was reinstated to service, provided you had the money for the flight? -I'm not sure. On the one hand, I really dislike flights because of pressure change, so even higher flight would be more unpleasant. But on the other hand, I think the "droop snoot" convinced me.
-Or maybe you had a chance to fly this majestic plane? -Sadly, no, I have not experienced it.
Currently several, if not more, supersonic aircraft are being designed. It seems unlikely that none of them will be created. However, why not think further? The bold projects of such companies as SpaceX or The Boring Company assumes delivery of extremely fast means of transport for the masses, not only intercontinental (to which Concord flights were limited), but also local ones. The hunger to overcome further barriers is great and ensures continuous technological progress.
Unfortunately, I hate planes, because I don't feel well during the flight. However, if there was such a need, I would decide to fly Concord because the time of my torment would be a half shorter.
I’m sure that we are going to fly commercially, but only people who works on that topic knows when it’s going to happen. There are a lot of people who are in a rush all the time and want to travel as fast as possible. If there is a need there is also a niche to fill. Business is business. If Concorde was reinstated to service I’m the first person who want to check how it is to crossing cloud with supersonic speeds. I’ve never flew that fast so it could be very interesting experience.
The Concorde was an amazing project. Its profile distinguishes itself from other planes. I did not have a chance to fly this plane but I would definitely like to make a journey like this. In my opinion, it would be a bad decision to let this plane serve passengers again. New planes are constructed in a much more modern way. They are more economic and more environment-friendly.
Recently I've watched movie series about Concorde and I can agree (as many people above) that it was very good project. It was the second supersonic plain after Russian Tu-144. In the material what I watched they told that after exceeding the speed of sound, the plane falls into terrible turbulence. It is really hard situation for the pilots. So probably this is the reason why passenger aircraft do not develop such speed ;) The Concorde had got one big problem with wheels - the reason of the disaster of July 25, 2000.
In my opinion we will surely fly in supersonic speeds. The first example that comes to my head is an extraordinary idea that is now developed by Elon Musk. A supersonic tube will make it possible to travel in very high speeds because of a tube and a car inside that tube. It's sort of a train that travels in vaccum (beacuse the air is pushed away from that tube). So I think it's higher than possible that we will travel in supersonic speeds in near future. Regarding second question - if it would be proved that it's safe, why not. I love how Concorde looks and it's nice piece of history so it would be also great to travel in time :) Regarding third question - No I haven't got such chance, it wasn't available for me.
I think that airplanes industry not growing in good speed. Planes are designed for usages for more than 25 years. Implement new technology is very dangerous. Producers prefer add new entertainment system with big touchable screens than make research new engine technology. I think that physics is border for engineers. Bell (helicopter manufacturer) have big challange. they are trying to create machine for rescue actions in high mountains (more than 8000 meters above sea level), but propably his technology won`t implements in machines for clients for many years. I think that inventors are concentrated in IT and electronics technology, but not challenges with nature limits.
I remember Concorde planes from my childhood when it was a synonym for top speed plane. I didn't really record the fact of it's crash years later and didn't wonder why it was abandoned. I don't think that mankind will settle down, in any manner. We are what we are, we will still be trying to do things better, faster, easier.. so sooner or later there will be some other project making supersonic travels available (if there are people willing to pay for it). I'm not sure if I would spare money to fly a Concorde.
I never before heard about this model of airplane. First of all in my opinion, flights by plane are still to expensive and not everyone is able to afford it. Unfortunately I do not know so much about aircraft technology, however based on previous comments, I see that it is possible in future. Next I believe that such flight services are tested to be safe for the consumer. As for the third question, it's hard for me to predict the future but I do not think it would be possible for me.
Do you think we will ever fly commercially with supersonic speeds, or will the world settle down with what is already achieved in that matter?
For now, definitely not. Supersonic flights are simply not viable. Airlines invest in aircraft that are more efficient and can carry more passengers. The Concord was created mainly as a result of the Cold War and the struggle for technological domination with USSR, concord vs. TU-144. I recommend great material on this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R43gKMWAPco
Would you fly a Concorde if it was reinstated to service, provided you had the money for the flight?
For sure. It would be amazing to fly this legendary machine. Money would not matter;)
Or maybe you had a chance to fly this majestic plane?
Unfortunately, when the Concorde was withdrawn from commercial use, I was 12 years old and I have never flew an airplane yet. Then a huge experience was traveling abroad by car ;)
As a civil aviation enthusiast, I must say I deeply regret I will never have a chance to fly on the Concorde. If it was reinstated I would be for sure one of those eager to check how traveling on a supersonic jet feels like. Fortunately, all is not lost! I know there are companies investing in building new generation jets. I believe that the day will come when everyone will be able to fly from Warsaw to New York in less than 4 hours.
Do you think we will ever fly commercially with supersonic speeds, or will the world settle down with what is already achieved in that matter?
Maybe we will but not in the near future. While the demand for fast travel is growing airlines already invested unimaginable amount of money in current technology. However scientific advances will never stop and with projects like Hyperloop, I think that supersonic means of transports will be available sooner or later.
Would you fly a Concorde if it was reinstated to service, provided you had the money for the flight?
Just for the sake of flying? Definitely not. I find flights boring and repetitive. Even 2 hours seems like ages for me. On top of that I have some flight anxiety so Concorde is not tempting me :)

I haven't had the chance to do so and I am not crying because of that.
