Podcast on top?
Based on data article which I was preparing form. In mid-2018, 42 million Americans were listening to podcast per week! Podcast, since they were created, gather in their range from 10-20 percent of listeners and their strength is still growing!
Their popularity is growing among young listeners, according to Forbes data research, it is a group between the ages of 18-34. They listen to podcast at least once a week. However, in the group of 12-17 years old, the listening frequency is twice as high!
In Poland, Agora research shows that as many as 27 percent of Internet users listen to podcast at home entertainment, while traveling, or for self-development. Poles also believe that this type of contents is more credible and honest than television or radio!
In 2018 was recorded and sheared on the Internet 800 million times. Forecasts are very optimistic amount of play back is expected to increase day by day and. In 2022 increase of up to 1.5 billion listeners is estimated – crazy is in it?
How is it in Poland?
¼ of Polish Internet users listened to the podcast at list once in their lives and almost everyone who listens to them does it at least once a month. The results of 27 percent give Poland the average European podcast listening. We can compare with for example Germany 22 percent, France 28 percent, the highest number of listeners in Europe is from Spain as much as 40 percent!
Latest situation increases popularity of podcasts
According to Tandem Media research, over the past six months, podcast growth can be recorded at 32,5 percent. 1/3 of respondents subscribe at least one podcast. 12 percent subscribe to 5 or more podcast. 59 percent of respondents constantly listen to two or even four podcasts. 50 percent of respondents listen at least once a week.
Now, please tell me:
1. Did you know that podcasts are so popular?
2. What are your favorite podcasts? If you’re listening to.
3. What topics would you present in your own podcast?
Below you can find bibliography-articles witch give me fulfilment to write article above:

I'm becoming more and more interested in podcasts as I appreciate learning by listening. For me, it's a very effective form of gaining new knowledge. I like to listen to podcasts while workouts, cleaning or doing some manual work. I've listened to many books while doing other things. I think it's an interesting medium, like upgraded radio broadcasts from the past. I used to listen sometimes Joe Rogan's podcast where he interviews significant figures from science, culture, sport and lifestyle in general. I really like all TED podcasts as they talk about interesting social topics.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I'm into Lex Fridman podcasts about AI and Okuniewska about life in Iceland. I also like to just google a topic which interests me at the moment and just play it. I wasn't aware about podcast's popularity statistics therefore this post was very helpful. I've never thought about my own podcast, but if I was preparing one I would like to invite people with unusual hobbies and interests to talk with them about their passion.
I'm glad you found out interesting facts from my post. I think you would like this podcast in this link:
Deletehttps://open.spotify.com/show/69vhRrk4LgJ44HLPb6HHp9
Yes, I've noticed the growing popularity of podcasts in recent years and I have the podcast application that I’m using to check what's currently "up to date”. Recently, I’ve been listening the „News in Slow Italian" podcast which helped me familiarize myself more with Italian culture and country. This’s for sure a good way to learn, while doing something else. It's too difficult for me to organize / prioritize information, so my podcast would be very chaotic. What topic would I choose? Probably something around web design:)
ReplyDeleteVery good idea! In Poland, there isn't anything about it, everyone who wants to design websites and start their adventure with UI are forced to learn in English.
DeleteI've heard about podcast but not about it is so popular! At my work girls are love in one podcast " Tu Okuniewska". I tried two maybe three times and i can tell that she tell a funny stories, but i couldn't listen she more. You need to be focus on this if you really want to listen podcast, i was doing this during work so maybe this was my mistake. Also i was listening on spotify so better for me was listening music than podcast, because you don’t need to be focus on this what someone say, you can just enjoying music.
ReplyDeleteI don’t have favorite podcast what i explained higher, but maybe you can tell me your favorite. I can try again, but this time i will doing this after work, that’s will be better. Or we can listen together when we back to PJATK!
I am very stressed when I have to say something at an important company meeting, so I think I couldn't record my podcast. The only chance for me to record something would be to talk to someone like "Thegalshir" whose I found on Instagram. If I write questions earlier which I would like to ask him. :)
I like the same as your work colleagues, Tu Okuniewska - she rules!
DeleteI think that this year we can forget about returning to university :(
1. Did you know that podcasts are so popular?
ReplyDeleteI do! Few years back I noticed how popular they're in the US and since around a year your local market is growing like crazy! While writing this comment I'm in the middle of interesting conversation streamed by newonce!
2. What are your favorite podcasts? If you’re listening to.
I like to listen to the people who succeed in something - mostly it's business & lifestyle related. I hate couching but at the other hand it's nice to listen to someone who already made it :) From time to time I'm also like to listen casual, interview-like talks with personalities I'm interested in by some point.
3. What topics would you present in your own podcast?
Back in the days I was deep into streetwear and collecting sneakers and I'm also great fan of how to create the business out of passion so I think I might combine both of those topics :)
Cool! Interesting! I can imagine such a podcast in Big Podcast World! I think, I would listen to with great curiosity.
DeleteI’m conscious of podcasts popularity because I listen to some of them. I like it because it’s a simple way of learning or simply improving your knowledge in some areas. My favorite podcasts are simply the ones that are connected to the topic which I’m interested in. I like to listen podcacsts about self-development, managing my budget, or more technical about programming which is mostly connected to my profession. You can listen to podcasts almost everywhere and I think that it’s what makes them so popular. Some time ago I was thinking about making podcasts and I think that I’d talk about programming but as for now I’m not ready enough.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there are topics about programming, WOW! Please send a link, what you are listening to. I will glad listen it!
Delete1. Yes, I knew that podcasts are quite popular, because I listen to them myself and I have many podcast fans among my friends. I think it's a good way to learn, and as you said before this type of contents is more credible and honest than television or radio.
ReplyDelete2. Currently I'm into „Polimaty” podcasts about few science information and „Karolina Soba艅ska” podcast about nutrition on Youtube chanel. If I'm interested in any topic, I'm just looking for some information about it, I often look at platforms where I can find some interesting podcasts about it.
3. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm suitable for public speaking. I'm very stressful in front of the camera, especially if I'm asked for some comment or give some feedbacks. I don't behave naturally in front of the camera either, so I would prefer to avoid such situations.
Thank you for your comment :) I think you have nothing to worry about, podcasts have the power - can be only audio record. So maybe you'll try one day ;)
DeleteI've never listened to any podcast. Probably because I never received any recommendation. Thank you for this article, now I will definitely try. Can you recommend me any podcasts you listen to? If I were to record any, I would choose plants and care for them. You would probably like it;)
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for some titles' recommendations!馃樃
Sure, Przemek, there are a lot of interesting podcasts.

well, "Ja i moje przyjaci贸艂ki idiotki" sounds interesting to me 馃樃 The titles of these podcasts look great! I will definitely listen to this during this week and send a feedback to you :)
DeleteAnd do you have something about cooking, perfectly with some recepies? Cooking is my new thing!
Unfortunately, not jet, I like cooking too but I can shear you some YouTube channels i someway seams like podcast ;)
DeleteI love Babish <3 https://www.youtube.com/user/bgfilms also can recommended weird ;) a bit Almazan https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVVAnxQ2YMC_qlc7QfPA2YQ
Thank you :) New recpies - here I come!
DeleteLovely 馃挆 :3
DeleteI have noticed they are getting more popular, not only among young people. I believe with this variety of topics everyone can found something that would be enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI don't have my favourite podcast. When I am am choosing something to listen to, in most cases this is podcast about criminal stories.
If I was about to host my own podcast, most probably I would choose topics I know the best, so probably UX and maybe games testing.
It's very nice to hear that there is a UX colleague in our group;) I'm glad that you read this article, I hope he was interesting.
DeleteYes, it was.
DeleteWhat is your favorite podcast?
My favourite is Tu Okuniewska -lifestyle and Marcin Iwu膰 - finanse. I'm really recommend it ;)
DeleteI knew podcasts were popular but I didn't know it that much. You can listen to podcasts while doing many other activities, so that's probably why they have so many fans. Listening to podcasts is a great way to learn new things at a time that would otherwise be wasted in some way. I listen to podcasts irregularly but quite often. I usually listen to things related to work and IT (DevTalk podcast), but also to interviews with people who interest me, as well as comments on the current situation in the country and around the world (Warsaw Enterprise Institute podcast). I am a person who prefers to listen rather than speak, so probably I will never have my own podcast, but if I did, it would probably be related to IT or automotive, because these are two areas that interest me the most.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good that there are such people like you :) I think that the podcast isn't lost to you, it's good to listen people who are over and over again listening to others..
DeleteAutomotive is also one of the areas that I'm into it but I know that they can harm the environment quite a bit so I feel guilty with this passion :(
Podcasts are very popular among my friends, I also know a few people who have turned the blog video into a podcast and their popularity has increased significantly. ⭐️ Others have found the perfect tool for creating scientific materials, for example, my friend's father, who is a lecturer, began historical podcast.
ReplyDeleteRecently, I don't listen to podcasts often because recently I travel less by car. Sometimes I listen to podcasts about criminal riddles, history or mythology.
My podcast would definitely be about interesting underground musicians and concerts or curiosities about famous artists.
O! I'd love to listen to these podcasts about criminal riddles, history and mythology. Please send me links or titles. I'll be glad :)
DeletePodcasts and audiobooks have become very fashionable recently. I like to listen to podcasts about self-development. I don't remember their title. I happen to listen to criminal stories. I don't recommend listening to sleep. 馃槄
ReplyDeleteIf I was recording a podcast, it would include film themes. There would be a lot of threads about video clips, technical solutions and young people creating a new perspective on the subject.
The second topic that I could develop would be about the environment.
WOW! A very specialised topic I'd love to hear about your podcast video world :) but I can't agree horror at night rules! Yes, I agree, the environment is a very important topic!
DeleteThe only thing I know about podcasts is that they exist. Actually, I had to check the definition to fully understand how it works. After reading and getting some information for a while I see why it is so popular. As you can imagagine, I do not listen to any podcast right now, but I think I will give it a try. I don't know the topics I will search for right now because there are so many, I need a moment to choose some of them and see how this whole podcast idea works. If it comes to me creating a podcast, I have no idea what it would be about. Seriously, nothing creative comes to my mind. Maybe I will listen to some podcasts about creativity, who knows?
ReplyDeleteOkay then, writhe me back what are you interested in maybe I can help you find out with something from the world of podcasts :) Let me know if you are interested;)
DeleteI knew podcasts were extremely popular. I am their fan myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like most about them is that I can do something else at the time, e.g. cook and listen to something that interests me.
When naming applications, you forgot to mention the Google Podcasts application, which in my humble opinion is the best one. I switched to Google Podcasts from Spotify (that is also quite good).
I listen to quite diverse podcasts. Some of them concern programming, nutrition, personal development, book summaries, politics, etc.
I didn't think about creating my own podcast, but if I had to record something, it would probably be what I do professionally, i.e. programming.
Thank you for mentioning Google Podcast while collecting material, I missed it, sorry. ;) Personally, I don't use this platform
Deletebut can't miss it :) Good point!

ReplyDeleteYes, I am aware of this phenomenon. Did you know that the biggest podcaster in the world – Joe Rogan last month- has signed an exclusive 100 million dollar deal with Spotify?
ReplyDeleteCurrently, I’m mostly listening to Joe Rogan Experience ho is interviewing all types of many very interesting people from rockstars like Steven Taylor from the Aerosmith to Elon Musk the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. Besides that, I like listening to technological podcast called Artificial Intelligence with Lex Friedman and comedy podcasts “Monday Morning Podcast” by Bill Burr and “This Past Weekend” by Theo Von which I can also strongly recommend.
Yes, I heard about Joe, but I can/t into in it. Thank you for recommending these podcast titles. I think I'll try it soon :)
DeleteYes, I know that podcasts are so popular. I sometimes listen to some podcasts on youtube when I am working or before sleeping. It’s a good way to take off your brain and just relax.
ReplyDeleteI like to listen about mysterious or funny stories.
It a little hard for me to say about what might be my podcasts because things which I like are from visual field. So I prefer to show something, not spekaking about this.
But it's just my things.I understand why it is so popular but prefer another way to "speak" with audience.
I'm glad there's so much awareness of the podcast phenomenon :) As I wrote to our colleague from the group that it is nothing to lost ;) maybe someday you'll find out your topic that you will be into it :)

ReplyDeleteOf course, I am aware of the fact that podcasts are so popular. My friends and my family listen to some podcasts. Not the same ones, of course, but everyone has one series which they listen to regularly. I am an exception to this rule, because I don't listen to them. I tried to find some ideal podcast for me, but always I felt bored after some minutes. In my own podcast, I would present something about computer games or science curiosity.
ReplyDeletePretty obvious to make a podcast about what you know best ;) Good luck if you made it!
DeleteI know that podcasts are becoming more and more popular these days, however I didn’t know it’s that much! Good to hear about Poland statistics btw! I myself am listening to some podcasts from time to time. I enjoy listening to some BBC Radio 4 podcasts, especially those with comedy genre. My favourite, I guess is "The Tiny Meat Gang Podcast” made by Cody Ko and Noel Miller. The podcast is a form of a hilarious conversation between the two incredibly funny entertainers. They present some media content in a very amusing way. If I was to create my own podcast, I guess I’d talk about cars and leasing since I’m recently interested in this topic area. For sure I’d like my podcast to be presented in a similar way to the Tiny Meat Gang, because they do it all so natural and engaging.
ReplyDeleteOi! I have't heard about this podcast, I must listen to them. Thank you very much for your recommendation :)
DeleteSince about a year I got really into podcasts on my own. I love listening to "Dw贸ch Typ贸w Podcast" and "Budnik i Pokrzywi艅ski" and I can say that I can't see my day without them.
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly listening to "Dw贸ch Typ贸w Podcast" which is podcast set by two well known youtubers and they're commenting all situations that are going on in our country and globally in very humouristic way. Other podcast that I've mentioned is mainly about F1 news and transfers.
I think that if I could set my own podcast I'd start talking about Polish life for global audience. Since I've started working in international company I was asking almost everyone about their stories and their day to day life. For me it was very exciting since it was something else, something new. I'd love to share with others how does normal life for Polish people look like. Who knows, maybe in future I'd travel and set up meetings with people from other countries and make interview with them.,
That sounds very exciting! "Dw贸ch Typ贸w Pocast" yesterday released a new one but I think you know about it but if not the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQSVFSqSTXA
DeleteTo be honest I found out what podcast is very recently and I have loved it immediately, The range of kinds of podcasts is so big that literally everyone can find something for themselves. I personally love Joe Rogans podcast, the talks are very interesting and what is most important Joe asks amazing questions which open great talks.
ReplyDeleteAnother fan in our group Joe. This makes such a podcast "family" listeners between some of you :D How much we can find out about yourself to each other :)

ReplyDelete1. I think, that with podcast people like this experience,
ReplyDeletethat someone is talking to them, rather than for example
looking at a tv show. A nice calm voice can be very soothing
during for example for a car ride. Also, the way, that points
of view are exchanged. I would however not like to hear a podcast
debate, as it could be too much verbal exchange, especially if the
two sides do not agree.
2. I never listened to that often to the podcast, but I listened
to audiobooks, where the format is quite similar. You have the
feeling that somebody is talking to you.
3. I would dedicate my podcast probably to history topics, as they
suit the format the best.
