Great video! It's good to know the basics about the engines that we use.
Answering your questions: Yes, I drive a car, but recently only occasionally. I've just changed car from diesel to petrol and I can share a few practical differences between these two: Because I changed car on February the first thing that I noticed (in plus for petrol engine) is that it took about 300 meters from start for heater to reach “warm temperature” of operating. In my opinion it’s great advantage!
Next thing is fuel consumption: when you use a car for short rides (up to 5km) diesel won’t be much more economical than petrol.
Last but not least is the fact that I spend much more money for servicing my diesel car. Diesel engines needs lot of expensive components that petrol’s just don’t need. More that twice many that I saved on fuel consumption I had to spent for service. If you are interested in diesel-petrol topic I can recommend you a short article (and google ;)): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2175111/Great-diesel-myth-They-DONT-save-money-petrol-models-economical-makes-car.html
Now that's the topic! we can discuss it over and over. I do drive a car a lot and I have some experiences with diesel as well as petrol. My first car ever had a diesel engine and it was a french technology from Renault. I was a pretty happy guy until my engine started not working properly, and that means not starting up... My engine didn't want to start up when it was warm. It took me a round year to find out what is the problem. Diesel engine is a financial nightmare! When you try to figure out what is the problem you start to check the cheapest parts. I took my car to ASO and they didn't know what's going on but they told me that computer is showing some error with the engine temperature sensor, so I have changed it - didn't help. Some other guy told me it can be camshaft itself or the sensor of position of the camshaft - changed, didn't help. I decided to spend some real money on it and I went to authorized Bosch service and they checked my injectors. BANG! The only thing that helped was a specialized software and precise testing in almost "laboratory environment". So I had to spent almost 2k zloty for the refurbish because new parts were too expensive. Also Bosch helped me tune my turbocharger to its 100% power again because it was running only at 20% of power. I still own that car... But I also own a turbo petrol car and after 1,5 years I've never had any problem with it. The only thing that is worse about petrol car is a fuel consumption. With diesel engine I could ride for a whole week for 100 zloty. With petrol engine and 100 zloty I can ride only for 2 days lolz.
That's a great video! I'm also a driver but only a fresh one. When I was looking for my first car, I wanted a diesel one because I've heard that they are more economic. But when I saw how expensive diesel engine repairs can be I bought a petrol engine car right away! Maybe if I was travelling a lot and needed to drive long distances I would notice any difference but as I only use my car to get to school on weekends and sometimes drive to work it dont think it matters what type of engine it has when it comes to gas consumption.
Hi, my first car was a mercedes class A, over fifteen year old car. It was a diesel, and I have to say I was very glad then! My workplace was about 50 km far from home. I used to work in office for three days and the rest of time I teleworked. And guys believe me, I didn't have to fuel very often then. But I had to sell my first car because costs of repairing was too high. Now I use Fabia on petrol, but I still miss my old car!
Yes, I do drive and I've already tried various diesels and gasoline cars. In my honest opinion petrol is the best :) Diesels are far better than they used to be in 80-90, but still I enjoy petrol engine sound far more. Especially if it's a V8 or V12 :) Diesel is cheaper, end of topic, but... Modern diesel engines needs good quality fuel or they won't perform well. It's really easy to brake diesel engine and costs of repair are enormous. It's cheaper to have petrol engine if you are making less than 30 k km per year. Especially if your car is old. Petrol for life, even tho diesels has better torque.
I saw this movie a week ago. I drive a car and a motorbike. Car is diesel and moto is petrol. To be honest I prefer diesel because of the price and less consumption. I also like diesel cars because of the turbocompressor. On the other hand I've heard that TFSI engine are pretty nice but haven't driven such one.
Very nice video. It shows great differences about petrol and diesel fuels and burning it in a simple way. I drive a car but not a lot. Most of cars I have ever driven were petrol and I like them. Diesel engines make rattle sound and vibrates a lot. But their uses less fuel and has better acceleration. I prefer petrol engines because they are quiet and creates less wastes from the burning process.
I drive a lot. My car is diesel and to be honest I always was driving diesel cars. Mostly cause of money diffrence between diesel and petrol but now I do like characteristics of diesel engines. Diffrences were always know for everybody. The only diffrence in that is that with new technologies the diffrences are diffrent ;)
Very interesting video. I think that people should watch more movies like this. We should know how are working engines which we have in our cars.
Answering Your questions: Yes, I drive a car. I usually drive many cars in one day and I often drive petrol and diesel. I know that probably it's not a cause, but recently I had a car accident in a car with diesel. Personally, I prefer much more petrol than diesel. The most I like big petrol engines. Alexander, tell us what do you prefer?
I like how informative this video is! It shows us the huge different between petrol and diesel. If you ask me about my preferences, I would diefenitely choose diesel engine. They are more economical, than petrol engine. Nowadays, diesel cars are much quieter, than they used to be.On the other hand, the diesel cars are more expensive to buy than the other. But if you want to have fuel-efficient car you have to pay more at star. I believe that i will buy my dreamed-of car in the near future. Thanks a lot for that video John!
Great video!
