Sziget Festival is one of the biggest festivals
in Europe. Usually it starts at the beginning of August. The first edition of
the festival took place in 1993. At that time the festival was called
"Diáksziget" which in Hungarian means the island of students. Later,
in the period 1996- 2001, Pepsi was a sponsor, in the interim the festival was
called Pepsi Sziget. From 2002 until now, the festival has adopted the name
Sziget Festival.
Sziget Festival is held every year in the
Hungarian capital Budapest, on Óbudai island on the Danube. The event usually
starts at the beginning of August and lasts seven days. It is the largest music
festival in Europe. It is visited by people from all over the world. During the
festival performers will perform practically every type of music. The most
famous artists on Sziget include: Iggy Poo, Slash, Sonic Youth, The Prodigy,
The Cardigans, David Bowie, Faith No More, Oasis, Faithless, Basement Jaxx,
Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, The Hives, Justice, Kaiser Cheifs, The Kooks, MGMT,
Kasabian, IMAX, Hurts, Macklemore and many others. Sziget has 7 scenes, in
addition to music scenes, impeses are held on a boat every day during which
electro artists of world-renown are playing.
In addition to musical attractions during the
festival, we can watch acrobatic performances and watch performances and screen
film shows. At Sziget Festival we can take part in numerous creative workshops.
In the festival area there is a Gamehub zone where we can play darts, board games,
video games and a Rubik's cube. Tent Without Borders is a place on the island,
during which topics about contemporary problems in the world are discussed,
such as immigration and integration. Here it is worth emphasizing the main idea
of the festival as the island of freedom and love revolution. Every year, the
festival is visited by people from over 100 different countries, which is why
the festival is so important to build the idea of a global village without
borders and divisions during the event. It is also worth emphasizing that at
the festival you can sleep under a tent, in motorhomes and in cabins located on
the island. Festival participants can also use the pool.
At the festival, we can also try cuisines from
around the world: Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Hungarian, American and many more.
Last year I took part in the Sziget Festival,
it was an amazing musical experience that, in my opinion perfectly reflects the
idea of the festival.

Can you describe your dream line-up with rock music?
DeleteI haven’t been on Sziget Festival but I’m very interested to be there in the next year. I love to visit Open’er Festival. I’m sure you know what I’m saying. I think that both festivals are very similar, especially when we compare music. I’m curious what do you think about Open’er. I’m going there for third time this year. I can’t wait for it. How do you feel right before such an event? I think that idea of love revolution and the island of freedom is a great idea, because places like music festivals are the best for integration and being polite for everyone. I think people who visit festival are very open minded, especially for other different cultures. I love being at Open’er Festival also for one more reason. Even if the price not only for the ticket but other stuff is quite big, it’s still not what the price of European festivals. I dream about Coachella. This year I had a cold during Coachella, so I had an opportunity to see everything thanks for hosts for online streaming. It was very amazing and I can’t wait for see whole event live.
ReplyDeleteI was at Open'er festival few year ago ( in 2011 and 2012). I like this festival, however price to quality and number of scenes is to small.
DeleteIn my opinion, we should work on the quality of the surroundings at festivals and the number of attractions outside of concerts.
1. Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
ReplyDelete– No, I didn’t participate in any festival that was held abroad.
2. What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the island of freedom?
– I think that it is a nice addition to the festival.
3. Do you like to go to music festivals?
– Yes. I like the enthusiasm and atmosphere at festivals. People gathering up to have fun and enjoy the music.

ReplyDelete1. Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
Unfortunately, I have never been to Sziget Festival. Your article shows that this is an amazing event. I hope that one day I will be able to witness it with my own eyes.
2. What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the island of freedom?
In my opinion, this are beautiful ideas. It is so wonderful that music can unite people who come from different parts of the world, speak different languages, have different believes, interests and tastes.
3. Do you like to go to music festivals?
I've never been to a any music festival. I prefer standalone concerts.
Which concerts do you like the most?
Delete1 Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
ReplyDeleteNever, it was the first time I heard of it. Sounds really nice, maybe I will give it a go next year.
2 What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the island of freedom?
Sounds amazing. Any kind of music that brings people together is a good one. Island of freedom is a great idea. Would love to see that myself.
3 Do you like to go to music festivals?
I love them. The vibes, atmosphere, great people around, favorite artists, warm weather. What’s not to love? Unfortunately some of them are far away from me, so I need to take take time off, spend money on transport, place to rest and food. But it’s always worth it.
Which festival is your favorite one?
DeleteHave you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
ReplyDeleteNo, I have never been to the Sziget Festival, but I have very nice memories from Hungary. The only event I attended there was Budapest Wine Festival.
What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the island of freedom?
I am actually not familiar with these terms. Could, please, elaborate?
Do you like to go to music festivals?
I have never been to one and now there's too much going on in my life to find even a little time for such events. I like concerts very much, though, so I can imagine that festivals would be my thing as well.
Island of freedom and love revolution are the main values of festival. They refer to the fact that people treat others without divisions and judging through the prism of the stereotypes.
Delete1. Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
ReplyDeleteNo, but I just read about it and it looks incredibly cool. I always wanted to go to a big festival like Tommorowland. So I think I will add Sziget to my to-do-list.
2. What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the island of freedom?
Looks great, also the idea that on festivals is more than music is a great idea to spend fantastic time.
3. Do you like to go to music festivals?
Sadly, I never was on any festival. Only on a lot of rock and metal concerts, but its completely different way to spend time.
What do you like most about Tomorrowland?
DeleteI never heard about it event, however your description looks like great. I tried to find the most similar event in our country. In my opinion this festival is between Slot Art Festival and Opener, but I like more rock and punkt climat at few days music event. ;)
ReplyDeleteFreedom and peace idea looks like ok. This is a few days without politics and media informations about any war and accidents.
Can you tell, what would convince you to take part in the festival?
DeleteI’ve never been to Sziget Festival before. It looks very promising.
ReplyDeleteI've read on the Internet that there is also a light version of the festival. There's plenty of electronic music which I really enjoy. Such festivals foster a greater tolerance for different types of behavior which helps in establishing good relationships between people from many corners of the world. I'd like to participate in the light version of Sziget Festival.
What type of activities to promote Island of freedom can help promote this idea of the festival?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete1. Unfortunately no, I haven't been there, but after your description I would like to :D
ReplyDelete2. It depends what you mean by love, because everybody can understand it differently. With freedom is the same. They are very relative and hard to define words. I doubt you would like some fat stinky man to make poop in front of your door in name of freedom and to hug you after that in name of love ;P
3. Sometimes, but I am rather a person who likes staying in home most of the time. But from time to time I like going outside also. Some music festival would be great destination then I suppose :)
Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
DeleteNo, never :(

1 Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
ReplyDeleteI have never been to this festival, but in the future I would like to experience it as well as knowing Hungary.
2 What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the island of freedom?
I agree with the assumptions of the festival and I want to work on my attitude.
3 Do you like to go to music festivals?
Yes, I plan this year one music festival but in Poland.
I’ve never been on Sziget festival, but i heard about it many times as one of the best festivals in the world. If I would be a fan of big festivals i’m sure that Sziget will take place in my shortlist of “must be there” places. I don’t like places where i’m the part of huge mass of people who are getting crazy about few songs by popular artist.
ReplyDelete1 Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
ReplyDeleteI have never heard about this festival, from what you described, the idea resembles our Woodstock.
2 What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the island of freedom?
The assumptions seem to be noble, how does it look in practice, apart from the festival? One of the photos you put in reminds me of the Hindu festival of colors - Holi. You should check this out.
3 Do you like to go to music festivals?
Yes, I think it's a great thing. I'm going to woodstock next year, this will be the 50th jubilee festival.
1 Have you ever been to the Sziget Festival?
ReplyDeleteNo, I've never heard of it.
2 What do you think about the idea of love revolution and the
island of freedom?
They are very good, it's similar to Woodstock Festival's Akademia Sztuk Przepieknych. They also discuss there many important, custom topics, with some special guests.
3 Do you like to go to music festivals?
I used to, but now I don't know if it's a proper time. By now I have so much to do that I'm more interested in going to some peaceful, calm places.
