Week 6 [04-10.06.2018] Tell me what you eat for breakfast, and I will tell you where you are from

Tell me what you eat for breakfast, and I will tell you where you are from

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, keeping us healthy and sharp.
It is an old truth, repeated from childhood to each of us. Sayings like: breakfast, eat like a king... we know it very well. However, it changes with age. Lack of time in the morning, fast coffee often substitute for breakfast. During sleep, we burn the sugars from the previous day. That is why we eat carbohydrates willingly for the first meal. Rather avoiding greasy or difficult meals.

And what about breakfast?

The traditional dishes of the region were initiated many years ago. If you want to delve into the subject, you have to go back to the past. Focusing on lifestyle, geographic location and local products.

I quickly meet for breakfast with dishes such as:
  •         sandwich with a ham,
  •         scrambled eggs,
  •         sausages,
  •         milk with corn flakes,
  •         porridge,
  •         Hmm.. from nursery school I still remember milk soup?
Peoples in editerranean countries due to high temperatures during the day, sat at the table in the evening. It was a time devoted to the family, conversations, food, and relaxation. After a hearty dinner, the breakfast is light like. For example: a croissant, butter, jam or honey, coffee. A Polish farmer, a Scandinavian fisherman or an English worker did not eat as much as a Mediterranean resident. During dinner it was already dark and cold outside and the work began at dawn. It was early in the morning that he needed the biggest meal. Sometimes reaching over 800 kcal. Such breakfasts consisted of eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, toast or fried toast. Irishman will complement the English breakfast with black pudding. A Scotch egg is wrapped in minced meat. The sandwich meat was replaced by fish. The Swede will choose salmon and a Danish resident prefers herring.

(Black pudding)

American cowboys in large part took over an English breakfast. Due to the work away from home, without the possibility of returning to the meal, she forced herself to eat for later.

The American did not have a garden with vegetables at home. Instead, beef was easily available. A frequent choice of a westerner is a tuna salad with mayonnaise and egg.

Mexican cuisine, regardless of the meal, offers corn, peppers, and onions. We know these ingredients well from quesadilla.

In the Russia win 'syrnik' - cottage cheese dumplings. It's a sweet dish that has more high in protein than classic pancakes. Alternatively, it can be porridge, omelette or sandwich from the kolbasa - the sausage.

(Fried eggs with kolbasa and dill on top)

Breakfast dishes in China widely differ from region to region. The popular ones include soy milk and deep-fried dough sticks. Sometimes it will be tofu pudding, macaroni or steamed buns.

  1. - Do you have time for breakfast at home?
Unfortunately, hardly ever. I am a sleepy head that wake up late so there is not much time for cooking.

Who do you eat the most with?
    My girlfriend, I guess.

What do you like to eat the first meal? And what would be your dream breakfast?
Light breakfasts. Some fruits like banana or apple and a yogurt is enough. Pancakes are nice as well. And I don’t really have a dream breakfast.

Breakfast from which country is the most interesting for you?
I am not sure which one I like the most but I know that British cuisine is my least favorite. Greasy food is not my thing. At least for breakfast.

  3. Sometimes I do have time for breakfast at home and sometimes not. When I eat at home it usually happens when my girlfriend made some stuff. Then I eat with her. In other cases I take my breakfast to work and eat there or take nothing and also eat there, but then something less original, f.ex. cornflakes with milk or bought sandwitch. My ideal breakfest is with my closest people. It would be nice if there would be also some fresh orange juice, eggs, mushrooms, bacon, fresh breadstuff, inka coffee, some fruits (ex. bananas, strawberries, american blueberries, or pears or apples), icecreams with meringue and fruit jelly :D :3
I think many countries can have very delicious breakfasts and the most interesting would be some mix of them ^^

  4. Do you have time for breakfast at home? Who do you eat the most with?

I rarely eat breakfast at home. Usually just sweet tea at morning and fresh bun from bakery later in work. In the mornings at home i'm all alone so my breakfast tea is also alone. I'm never hungry at morning unless in on some field trip - fresh air and activity always increase my appetite.

What do you like to eat the first meal? And what would be your dream Breakfast? (it can be something crazy)

Usually my first meal is some kind of bun with poppy seed, fruits and coffee at work. But my dream breakfast would be pancakes with banana, ice cream, nutella, whipped cream and nuts.

Breakfast from which country is the most interesting for you?

Russian meal looks interesting to me at this moment because i'm hungry while reading this and i'm in the mood for bliny.

  5. Do you have time for breakfast at home?
I always eat breakfast at home even if it is just a banana and glass of water. If I skip it I will be hungry and grumpy for the rest of the day. For most days I just eat porridge with dried cranberries and some green tea. Fast to make and fills you up.

Who do you eat the most with?
I wake up last so it’s usually alone.

What do you like to eat the first meal? And what would be your dream breakfast?
Like I mentioned in first question I like eating porridge. Sometimes it’s just toasts with cheese and tomatoes or scrambled eggs in winter to keep me warm. My dream breakfast is the one I would get in bed, preferably with avocado toast and fresh orange juice.

Breakfast from which country is the most interesting for you?
Japanese definitively. Those cute little portions or rice, tofu or toast look just great. The way food is presented it makes such a difference.

  6. Breakfast is very discussable topic. I know that people have a lot of crazy ideas about breakfast. I don’t mean what they eat but how they eat but it’s something for the next discussion. I have time for breakfast at home and I use that time. My day is the same everyday. Of course, I’m talking about breakfast. I prefer start day with cornflakes with one banana, cranberry and milk. It’s the best meal for breakfast, I swear! It could be boring for something, to eat the same everyday but it’s not. It’s very quick to prepare and eat it I can it in a few minutes. It’s very tasty and delicious! I don’t like to eat alone, I prefer to eat with my flatmates but sometimes it’s not possible. My dream breakfast it’s not about the meal but it’s about the place where I eat and with whom. My dream is to be near the some sea or ocean where the sun is up and I’m with my friends. There is a nice atmosphere, everybody are polite. Nobody is hurry! I like spicy food, so I don’t have preferable cousins. I want to eat spicy meals!

    - Yes, I always have some time for breakfast. Even if sometimes I have to get up earlier, I still woke up with having enough time to prepare and eat breakfast without rushing.

    2. What do you like to eat the first meal? And what would be your dream breakfast? (it can be something crazy)
    - Usually eggs or sandwiches. I really like english breakfast, so let say it would be my dream breakfast.

    3. Breakfast from which country is the most interesting for you?
    - As I wrote above, I like english breakfast. It contains only tasteful ingridients, is easy to prepare and you can;t be hungry after eating it.

  8. Unfortunately, I don't have time to eat breakfast at home. I buy breakfast in a canteen at work and I eat it in front of the computer. Most often it is a ham or quark sandwich. That's a pity you didn't write about Polish breakfast. I think it is special. I like good bread, cheese or quark with some vegetables for example tomatoes or cucumbers and a cup of coffee. However, sometimes I would like to have breakfast from Mexico because I have never had one. English breakfast contains a lot of fat and I wouldn't feel good after eating it.

  9. 1. I always eat breakfast. When I wake up, I'm so hungry.
I ride a bicycle to work 10 km one way and I train in the morning. I would not have the strength without breakfast.
To say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day is not just a slogan.
However, I believe that every meal should be made to be healthy and tasty.
    2. I always eat breakfast with my boyfriend.
    3. Usually I choose eggs in various forms or granola with yogurt and fruits.
    4. Every day I have my dream breakfast :)
    5. I love the black pudding with onion.. It's the taste of childhood.

    3. I prefer drink coffee, I haven't got any preferences on what i eat for breakfast.

  12. - Do you have time for breakfast at home? Who do you eat the most with?
I rarely eat breakfast, because I'm always late to work. So basically I eat my breakfast at 12am, which is more like lunch. I know that's not the good way, but I think I have to work on my habits :D
    - What do you like to eat the first meal? And what would be your dream breakfast? (it can be something crazy)
Mostly on my breakfast/lunch I eat pastry, with yoghurt. Dream breakfast would be bacon and eggs and some fresh bread.
    - Breakfast from which country is the most interesting for you?
I think that it doesn't differ so much as far as I'm concerned (from my past travels). I think that polish breakfast is the best, scrambled eggs are cool.

  13. 1. Do you have time for breakfast at home?

Yes, I usually eat breakfast at home. I try not to go out without the first meal, because it is the most important during the day.

    2. Who do you eat the most with?

I usually eat breakfast alone. But I really like the habit in some companies, where once a week breakfasts for employees are organized. It's a great idea for integration and establishing relationships with colleagues.

    3. What do you like to eat the first meal?

For the first meal I like to eat muesli with natural yoghurt or pancaces with something sweet.

    4. What would be your dream breakfast? (it can be something crazy)?

My dream breakfast is something healthy and tasty at the same time. I've been browsing a lot of recipes on the Internet lately because I'm trying to keep a healthy diet. An interesting idea for breakfast are muffins with quinoa, goat cheese and vegetables, for example spinach and peppers.

    5. Breakfast from which country is the most interesting for you?

The most interesting for me is the Russian breakfast. When I look at a photo of Fried eggs with a saucepan and a dill on top, I would like to prepare something like that by myself.

    1. I often make fried eggs, i.e. dig into pans and go to get ready. It usually controls every few moments, but it allows you to make breakfast and eat almost ready

  14. I always eat breakfast at home. I know I have to find the time, because my husband can't imagine leaving home without breakfast. Actually, he's the one who prepares our meals in the morning. You could say we have a kind of a ritual. No matter in what hurry we are, we always find fifteen minutes to sit and eat in peace.

We usually eat sandwiches or scrambled eggs, but my favorite breakfast would be pancakes in whatever form.

I honestly can't stand English/Scottish/Irish breakfast. It's definitely not for me. I think our Polish traditional food is good enough.

  15. Breakfast at home, I eat only on weekends. However, quite often I take the ingredients from which I make breakfast at work. I usually eat sandwiches with cottage cheese and vegetables for breakfast.

My dream breakfast would be some vege stew, fried eggs, toast with chopped vegetables.

Maybe not the most interesting but the breakfast for which I like is the French breakfast. Croissant with additions or omelette.
