  1. People renting their apartment or room must involve risks. People are different... this article shows the risks associated with renting accommodation as well as good advice for owners to minimize the costs associated with damage by guests .

My best way to find accommodation in the journey are similar portals such as Booking.com. These sites have advanced search , so we can determine the features of the accommodation you are looking for ( eg . The price per night , promotions , hotel with swimming pool, the distance to the center and many other)
Each accommodation on the Booking.com website can be rating by guest after staying , so we can see if accommodation is recommendable .
Common side Booking.com has special promotions, thanks to this you can pay cheaper per night than on the official website of the hotel.
Home booking.com has mobile applications , so we can book accommodation already on the road.

I ordered through booking.com accommodation in Thailand , and there was no problem . With a good search engine , opinions, people , good promotion I chose the perfect hotel for my vacation.

  2. Thanks for this article! I haven't heard about Airbnb ever before. It seems to be a very useful page when looking for an accommodation for near holidays.

Personally I would like to rent a room through Airbnb but not necessarily would I like to be on the other side. I would be scared of renting my apartment because it could be inhabited by many various people in a short term. I would prefer to rent the accommodation for a longer period like six months or a year.
I would rather people rentig my house would be prudent and responsisble. People coming from a little village and needing housing in a big city due to the beginning of a contract or studies.

Regarding the second part of the question. Last summer I was in Portugal and to the Netherlands. I decided to look for rooms on my own. I used the online portal - Booking.com. It is a similar site to Airbnb, but contains hostel's and hotel's offers only. For this reason expenses connected to accomodation are bigger than if I would rent a room from a common person.

  3. I can agree with @Karolina - I didn't know about thispage and it seems to be a very useful page when you want to find accommodation for holidays. I have also experience with Booking.com portal and I must admit that I have never been disappointed - this is a similar site to Airbnb, but contains hostel's and hotel's offers only.
A great advantage of booking.com is mobile application that enables you to check and book accommodation anywhere you want.

  5. Very interesting article. There is a lot of risk, when you decide to rent your home or apartment. You are never fully sure who the rentiers really are, how they will take care of the apartment and in what condition they leave it after their moving out. Sometimes, the deposit may be too small to cover the costs of repair. It is important to be sure about the identity of the person with who we sign the contract.

Personally, traveling abroad I use only travel agents for finding accommodation. I choose the only tested agencies to which I have confidence. They have always a large offer and I was never disappoited. It is known that I have to pay a ommission to them, but I prefer to pay a little more and make sure that after reaching the place, the hotel for which I paid, really exists and has everything what was shown in the offer.

  6. In my opinion the problem described in the article is well known and quite common not only in terms of finding accommodation for a holiday but in general renting some space to strangers. If you decide to rent somebody your home, it should be obvious that this can lead to some, let’s say, complications. I can understand that cleaning the whole house from dog’s hair can be annoying but it concerns also other things like painting walls or buying things that broke which you have to had in mind when renting your house. These things can just happen.

Answering to the question I prefer staying in hotels rather than looking for rooms in such portals like airbnb. It’s a bit risky also for tenants, because you can pay for a beautiful apartament that looks gorgeous on photos and after arrival it occurs that almost everything is damaged or rooms are filthy. I always try to minimalize all risks connected with vacation and that’s why hotels are more convincing for me. But I know people who are using airbnb and are very pleased with this service and the fact that they can save some money on cheaper accommodation. It depends on your needs.

  7. For me Airbnb is one of the sites which rely on mutual trust of their users. In this context, it’s similar to couchserfing.com or even blablacar.pl. Although, I do have some positive experience with couchserfing.com, I would never decide to use Airbnb, at least not as a host. I can’t imagine that I would invite stranger to my house and let him stay there without my supervision. Regarding the situation from the article, I wonder how did the woman let the strangers with dogs enter her house? Didn’t she give keys to them personally? If I were her, I would tell them that they must find other accommodation due to the rule breach.

As I already wrote, I used couchsurfing.com several times to find accommodation for a short term. However, I was never given my own keys copy and I was OK with that. I believe that couchsurfing I something more than just finding place to stay. It usually involves more friendly approach and I am still in touch with some of my hosts. Nevertheless, recently I prefer staying in regular hotels - it’s just easier to arrange.

  8. I prefer hostels and hotels due to minimizing risk. I use sites like booking.com or just a websites of particular brand of hotels (we can use some loyalty programs thus reducing the cost of).

  9. So far I've mostly relied on renting hotels or hostels depending on the circumstances. You can check them via internet and lately even more and more often get an e-tour to see the rooms and venues. Having read this article though I'm seriously considering searching for some Airbnb next time I go on holidays. It looks like a fun way to have an extra adventure simply due to an unusual place to stay, since you get to do something new and maybe meet some cool people. Sure it does involve some risk, but it somehow makes it even more appealing to me.

  10. This is the first time when I'm hearing about Airbnb. I think it might be useful when you are planning your vacation, but honestly I would prefer staying in a hostel or in a hotel.
I could imagine that I’m staying in somebody’s home, but in my opinion it would be strange. Entering in somebody personal space - sleeping in somebody’s bed, using somebody’s bathroom.
On the other hand renting my home to somebody else is far beyond my imagination. There is no possibility that I would sell my privacy just for couple of bucks. I just could not imagine strangers wandering in my home and checking my closet or wardrobe. This kind of situation would be not acceptable in my personal opinion.
