Week 5 [8-14.05.2017] Health Benefits of Matcha Tea

What is Matcha?

Matcha ( litteraly means „powder tea” ) is propably the most healthy kind of green tea in the world.
Matcha is a high-quality green tea powder. Traditionally, it is used for „chanoyu”, the Japanese tea ceremony. From what the buddhist monk Eisadi have just been saying „Matcha Tea is the ultimatemental and medical remedy and has the ability to make one's life moe full and complete”. * The buddhist Eisadi has lived In 16th century's, Esadi was the person who introduced Matcha tea in Japan.

Matcha (green tea powder) has a very characteristic intense green color and a little bit sweet taste and is  produced by only high quality green tea (Sencha). If You drinking matcha tea, you will consume the all leaf with all benefits including inside. Thanks to that we provididing from our organism much more nutrients than a normal brew of  dry leaves of normal green tea . In matcha green tea is a little bit minerals nad vitamins, but we find inside a lot antioxidants – polifenols, which that is being used to preventive treatment and therapy against of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and stopped ageing proces.

The main  Properties of Healthy Drinking matcha green tea

1.Matcha is very strong antyoxidant.

Antyoxidants are responsible to neutralizing negative effects of free radicals –  they attact our healthy cells, which they  contribute to progression of heart, eyes, brain, skin and cancer diseases. Antyoxidants distroy free radicals and bring to back harmony of organism and  contribute to immune system permanenty. Without free radicals we feel more healthy, and anging processes are succumb to slowdown. Matcha has the biggest concentration of antyoxidants with ORAC scale (much more than fruits and vegetables).

2. Matcha is a good source of katechins, EGCG – 10 cups normal gree tea in one cup of matcha.

Behind all of antyoxidents, katechins have a special properties to neutralize free-radicals. Katechins reduce risk of arteriosclerosis and reduce level of cholesterol in blood. Additionally katechins are antibacterial and antywirus and protect skin against harmfull solar radiationA special strong antyoxidant in Matcha is derivative of katechin – EGCG. This organic compound shows stronger anticancer actions and is 100x more stronger antioxidant than witamin C. Drinking Matcha tea, we are consuming whole tea leaves – so 1 cup of matcha has more EGCG than 10 cups of normal green tea!

3. Matcha makes you calmining, relaxing and more energising.

Matcha has incredible action for our organism. In this same time, Matcha providing to feel more calming, relaxing, more powerfull and energising.
Why are we  feelling so calming and relaxing after drinking matcha? It becase of L-theanina, wchich is concetrate in tea’s leaves used to produce high quality Matcha. L-theanina reduce stress and tension, but it doesn’t make sleep sensation or light headedness.  On the contrary, Matcha improves concentration.

Matcha has a caffeine, so we will have more energy after drinking a cup of Matcha tea, but we will dont have any side effects like  hyperactivity, high pressure and nervousness. Additionally, Matcha doesn’t leaching of magnesium and  the other minerals (like in the case of drinking standard coffee).Matcha is the good reason to people who can’t drink a normal coffee.

4.Matcha help to burn extra calories

Matcha is a good friend for people who want to lose weight and speed up body’s metabolism. Because  of katechin – EGCG, which improve metabolism and prevent to proliferation of adipose tissue. Matcha is like a natural dietary summplements and this is a better way than chemical supplements, because we will not have any side effects like increased heart rate or elevated blood pressure.

5.Matcha clean-up body from toxins.

Thanks for the high level of chlorophyll, matcha has a beautiful intense green colour and a little bit sweet taste of green powder. Chlorophyll helps to cleaning  our blood and body fluids from toxins.

Today, Matcha  tea is my favourite kind of drink -  I always drink Matcha in the morning and I feel so powerfull and „fresh minding”. The most important thing is that we  must buy only high quality matcha tea from Japan. The Chinese Matcha has a unsweetened taste and this type of matcha is good only for ingredient to bakery or ice cream . Chinese Matcha also has less antioxidants.

My favourite  things with matcha is:

1. Ice cream with Matcha tea powder.

Add  matcha powder to vanilla ice cream and mix together (optional: you can give crumble oreo’s coockies) – you must try these!

2.      Ice Matcha  tea latte.

When I was in Thailand, i always drank ice matcha latte because it was the best drink to hot weather.
Just prepare 1 spoon of matcha with hot water (1/2 of cup), add soya milk and  a lot of ice. Put it together on the mixer and enjoy the taste.  If You dont have a matcha, You will go to Starbucks and buy matcha green tea latte.

  1. I have drunk Matcha Tea powder. I have it somewhere. I thought that it gave me more boost than the normal coffee. Now I don't drink it. I was never interested in it. I have never heard about icecream made from Matcha Tea and I have never eaten it. But I would like to try it. Personally I'm a fan of coffee and it would be difficult to change to Matcha tea. But everyday I eat Matcha tea drops because it has cofeine and burns extra calories. I use it 45 min before every training. It makes you sweat more = you burn more calories.

  2. I have never tried Matcha green tea, but i love chai tea latte. Some time ago I was frightened by the combination of tea and milk, but this drink is insane. It is a very aromatic tea with a mixture of spices such as ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and cardamom. This tea has character. :) Thanks to the spices we get a decent but enjoyable brew with oriental flavor. You can drink it with milk, sugar or honey - then we get a delicious and nutritious drink. Fantastic, warming proposition. I recommend it for the winter :)

  4. No, I've not tried Matcha green tea but it sounds great! I must try it! Even I've never heard about this kind of tea. I have to drink that. Your article make me thirsty. Despite of fact about matcha tee, I've heard a lot of about green tea. It seems to be very healthy and when I have a decision to make, black tea or green tea, I always take the second one. In my opinion, every vegetable and fruit is extra food, beacause of goodness. I don't hate meat, I love meat but fruits are very important in my life. My favourite one is a beach, when we talk about fruit and broccoli! I've read a lot of them for example this one about healt benefits: http://www.care2.com/greenliving/love-it-or-hate-it-broccoli-is-good-for-you.html. You must read it!

I never before try Matcha, but I think that, I could try it in future. I really don't what I could said about super food- I am not an expert field. In my opinion the best way to be health is good diet. First of all we should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Limiting the large amount of sugar in the fast foods, sweets and chips. Definitely reduce the amount of red meat consumed. Only with a healthy diet, we should add superfood as : spirulina, acai berries, chia seeds and others.

  12. Matcha looks like spinach coctail and I hate spinach, so I don't think I'll ever try it. Besides I don't like green tea either.
I don't think that it's properties are so wonderful, that will protect us from diseases, especially from tumor.
In healthy eating, like in any other field, fads come and go. I've read that recently oil from black-caraway is very popular, also good for everything. It was used in ancient Egypt and it's sometimes called "Pharaohs gold".

    1. I understand You, i love spinach but i hate chlorrera or spirulina powder. Matcha green powder has more light color than spinach or spirulina.

  13. I’ve never tried Matcha green tea, I had no occasion for that but for sure one day I will try. I heard a lot of it and it has beautiful color. I’m not a expert in super food, I think the best way to be health is just healthy diet ( a lot of fruits and vegetables) and do not eat a lot of sugar.

  14. I love Matcha powder in everything. It has a strong "tea-fishy" flavor. I actually made my own Matcha, when I was in Japan. I grind it myself from tea leaves and I can say one thing. If you never tried fresh Matcha tea in Japan, you probably don't know how it taste like. I never found similar flavor in Europe. Even imported ones are mixed with unknown stuff and don't have so strong smell as original. Also I don't recommend MAtcha drink from Starbucks. Believe me, it's something created for Europe market.

    1. Anna, thank You for Your comment.
I have never been to Japan, so I do not know how tastes fresh matcha. It must have a unique taste.
Maybe one day I will fly to Japan.

I realize that matcha with starbucks does not taste like matcha from japan, but for someone who has never had a matchy - this is a good introduction. Matcha has a completely different taste than normal green tea, so for most people green tea with milk can be repulsive and they would never do matcha at own home.

  15. "Matcha has incredible action for our organism. In this same time, Matcha providing to feel more calming, relaxing, more powerfull and energising." With that setence I partly agree, that's because I had a pleasure to drink matcha, and I didn't feel calm like during drinking lemon balm.
I used to drink matcha a lot, and even I drunk it during ceremony of drinking tea. I have to admitt that it is marvellous product. I had some serious stomach problems and doctor reccomended me drink it every day. Slowly my diesease went away.
Thank you for this article, it is great :) Monika D

I hope that in a few years the matcha in Poland will be so popular that it will be available in every cafe and shop.

  17. I haven't tried Matcha and I probably won't as I don't like green tea at all. I rather prefer to drink black tea instead and I'll stick to it. Also I don't think there is any "ultimate remedy" that can change our life. I understand that it has some positive effects for our body but I wouldn't over rate them.

  18. Thank you for this article, I have never heard about Matcha green tea and I will definitely try it. Nowadays very popular is healthy food and cleaning up our blood and body. People more and more care about their health. For me we should eat consciously, which means that we should read product labels, check if it does not contain any harmful substances, and choose products with the shortest labels.

  19. This is a very interesting article. I have never heard about this tea before. I am currently at the stage of putting various healthy products into my diet. So I will definitely try it! I can recommend You chia seeds. Split seeds are an excellent source of alpha-linolenic acid, which is the precursor of the remaining omega 3 fatty acids. Seeds also divide the wealth of antioxidants that are beneficial for our health. You've probably heard about them, because nowadays they are very popular.

  20. It seems very healthy and tasteful. But I have never drink it. I love green, white tea. I love yerba mate.
So I think this can be next in my experiences.
I love green tea rather for taste, then healthy effect, but anyway it is worth.
For sure I will try it.

  21. Thank's for this article. I heard some time ago about Matcha but I completly forgot about it. After this article I will definitely try this tea. When it comes to other healthy foods I systematically use goji berry most often with yogurt. Allegedly one of the healthiest fruits of the world, contains a lot of antioxidants, a long list of health properties and I heard the opinion that even crushed the potential cancer. I do not know if it is true that I can only say that if someone answers their specific taste they are really delicious.

  22. To be honest – I haven’t tried it. But most certainly you convinced me to give it a shot! :)

Usually I’m very skeptical about this kind of ‘wonderful food’ which is good for everything. It will bring you health, wellbeing and cure all your diseases. Many of my friends and members of my family tried some sort of diets based on selected products which were supposed to help with losing weight or dealing with health issues. I trust that only heathy lifestyle (in general – being physically active) and balanced diet is something that your organism can benefit from. A single product cannot handle all of the other mistakes you do while arranging your diet.

This however can be a good addition to a balanced diet which is already based on healthy food which provided you all needed nutrition values and required amount of calories. I like its color. They say that people eat with their eyes. I totally agree with it and everything which has nice or interesting appearance (in this case – very intense green color) looks tasty to me :)

  23. I have never heard of this, but Matcha stimulates the body and adds energy, but in a different way than coffee or other energy drinks, so I would like to try it once, but it is also very expensive tea. Like most people, apart from "Lipton" tea and granular or ground coffee, I do not know others types and it is something new for me.
