When the first season was created, fans of good fantasy were simultaneously delighted and full of fears. Is one of their canonical works, "A Song of Ice and Fire" (Title of the first volume of books George R.R. Martin), in television adaptation will not be sterilized from the content, and what's worse - from the quality of the original. The fears turned out to be unfounded.
The crossroads of the huge story and the HBO brand caused that with each season the popularity of the series increased, and consequently - fantasy as a genre. Millions of viewers around the world who have not come close to fantastic prose understand that the presence of dragons does not mean production for children or escapist seekers. Next to adventures and emotions, so well devoted in the series, a lot of philosophical, religious and economic considerations there. And above all - human characters that are not simply good or bad. Here the division into good and evil as such is blurred. The global phenomenon of "Game of thrones" is precisely what this is about. "Game of Thrones" didn't start the serialized revolution, but from today's perspective it is its biggest beneficiary. And he will certainly be in the canon of the most famous television series forever.
The screenplay for the entire first season of the series received the Hugo award in the category "best dramatic presentation" in 2012. In contrast, the scenarios for the episodes of Blackwater Bay and Rains of Castamere received the Hugo award in the category "the best dramatic presentation (short form)" in the years 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Average viewership of the 6th series in the United States is 23.3 million, by 15 percent. more than the previous season. In Poland, it amounted to 110,000, which is by 23 thousand. watching more than last season. The final episode of the seventh series, The Dragon and the Wolf, was watched by over 16.5 million viewers. In 2011-2019 the Game of the Throne was won by Totals wins 239 and 715 nominations
The directors of the final series include the creators of the series: David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, but it is a curiosity that the plot of the series has long since overtaken issued books. Benioff and Weiss learned the key elements of the plot from the writer and on this basis work on the next episodes. The last season will have four directors. The first episode of the decisive final season of the "Game of thrones" season had its premiere on 14/04/2019. It will be the shortest season of all consisting of 6 episodes.

I love Game of Thrones. I think, first of all because in the first season we had a plot twist and then I fell in love with this series. Not because of death, but by surprise. Who would have expected the main character is going to leave the series after the first season! I also read books that have many more side motifs, which unfortunately are not on the show. I think that if the creators wanted to accurately reproduce the book, production would continue for several years more. I love series, especially those with an unexpected turn of events. I think the first few seasons of "The Walking Dead" is an ideal example. This is one of the few series, where the main characters from time to time die unexpectedly. On my netflix, there are no items to watch anymore. Unfortunately, I do not like movies very much because they are too long for me. However, series that have up to one hour duration are perfect to watch one episode every day.
ReplyDeleteI read first volume of the book and as I remember it was exciting experience. Book was really good, but I didn’t read next volumes, despite my family did. I used to like fantasy books, but this one was to dark for me. I probably saw one episode from first season, but I don’t remember it well. Generally I don’t watch series. Idea of sitting in front of television every week, same time is not for me. Watching all night episode after episode is even worse. The last time I tried to watch a series was Prison Break (I checked, it was in 2007) and even it was absorbing I watched maybe half of first season. I absolutely prefer movies, but movies on a big screen. Honestly said I don’t like just sitting and watching. Even if plot is interesting and not obvious I’m easily distracted and couldn’t stand sitting so long. Other than films, I can read books for a long time and not be bored. Reading absorb me much more than watching.
ReplyDeleteI was never interested in watching Game of thrones until few of my friends were so stubborn I watched the first episode. I wasn't really into it and forgot very quick about but after few weeks I've made two more attempts and I fell in love instantly. For now I'm watching series for 6 years and what I can tell is that is one of the best tv series. There was a time in my life that I was only focused on TV series, I lived from premiere of season of one series to the other one and I loved it. It's not easy to tell if I prefer movies or tv series because we have different expectations for both types of entertainment. Movies are often called masterpieces, there are a lot of great details, inspirations, specific plots etc and in tv series You know that You can spend more time with Your favourite characters in universe You fell in love with. I think that this choice really depends on what we really want to feel during watching specific movie / serie.
ReplyDelete1. I have never seen any episode of Game of Thrones. I confess the principle that I have to read the book first. This is obviously on my "TO DO" list, but unfortunately, I don’t have time for it lately. I think that I will catch up with everything in holiday. 😊
ReplyDelete2. Recently I watched such series as "Lucifer". Tomorrow is the premiere of the 4th season. Yesterday I finished watching the Polish crime series "Odwróceni". It's not much, I turn on the TV very rarely.
3. And this is a question that I hope I can answer after the holidays :)
Perhaps it’s a little bit strange but I have never seen any episode of “Game of Thrones”. I heard many great reviews concerning this TV series but I didn’t have a chance to start watching it. I really don’t like to watch series alone and all my friends have already seen it before. In July I plan to start watching from episode one and be able to assess myself how good it is. I don’t watch any TV series. I simply have no time for this kind of entertainment. My days are always filled and when I have some leisure time I prefer to spend it in more active way because of my sedentary lifestyle. I prefer TV series. They are extremely engaging. I remember when I was watching “Narcos”. I just couldn’t stop!

I watch Game of Thrones since the beginning of this TV series. I consider myself as a fan and for me this is the most entertaining show ever. Although the series is great, the current season, last one, is in my opinion very weak. There are way too many absurdities. Let's take a look at the latest episode no 4. Bronn walks in with a crossbow to a guarded fortress like to his own house, ok I can take that. Who is Jamie Lannister in this season, the great character development over 7 seasons has been ruined in the current one. Of course we can't forget about huge Euron's fleet hiding behind the rocks, come on. I watched many TV series from many different categories. I like movies and TV series at the same level. What I prefer to watch depends mostly on my mood. Obviously with TV series you can delve into their world on a bigger scale.
I must admit that I tried to start watching Game of Thrones once, but during intro I got bored and turned TV off. So, to be honest, I didn't even give this serie a chance. One day I want to watch it, from first to last episode, but first I want to read a book. Actually, I don't watch a lot of TV, because I have many other activities and I just can't focus on movie for hour or more. Last TV serie I've been watching was Spanish "La Casa De Papel". Sometimes I also watch sitcoms like "Big Bang Theory" or "How I met Your mother". It's hard to say if i prefer movies or TV series, because I have some examples of amazing shows in both categories.
ReplyDelete1) Do you ever seen Game of Thrones?
ReplyDeleteYes, but I finished on 3rd season.
2) Do you watch other TV series?
Yeah, I enjoy it a lot. Recently I watched "Chambers" which was decent.
3) Do you prefer movies or TV series?
I prefer movies, because the story is more compact, and you can focus on some artistic aspects. And they don't steal that much time as TV series.
1.
ReplyDeleteYes I have seen the Game of thrones, all of the episodes. I have been following the series almost since the beginning. I have not read the books but maybe I would try it one day. I love the series and how unpredictable it is and continues to be. Every week I am waiting anxiously for the next episode and who will die hopefully. Unfortunately the last season has been disappointing. So many plot holes and weird twists that don’t make any sense. Wish it was as good as it used to be.
2&3.
I don’t really watch any TV shows, maybe something funny like Bonding series on Netflix. I prefer movies to be honest.
If you like game of thrones then please don't spoit it for others :)
Up to this day I'm still wondering why exactly I'm still watching Game of Thrones. I guess I just want to know how it will all end. I still remeber that first season was something very new and fresh. I didn't knew any other show like that - with so many plots and deaths and unexpected turns of events. But last few seasons got pretty boring in my opinion. Decisions of characters are more and more unlogical and the main characters are just protected by the plot shield.
ReplyDeleteRight now I don't watch any other TV series. I have other things to do right now ;) but a few years ago I was watching quite a lot of tv shows like game of thrones, vikings, sherlock or Silicon Valley.
Some of them ended, some just got uninteresting to me. I'm still waiting for some new show that will make me look forward to the next episode.
Do I prefer movies of TV shows? I like both - it all depends of a story that director want to tell. In some cases movie will be a better format in others TV-show will be a better option. I just want to watch good cinematograhy - sometomes it will be a movie and sometimes a tv show. And what about you? How do you like last season of GoT?
1. Yes, I've watched all seasons so far. Unfortunately, I don't have time to watch the latest season. It seems to me that I will watch it in its entirety when all the episodes are gone.
ReplyDelete2. I used to have time for it and I liked watching television series, but now I do it very rarely.
I realize that I miss a lot of hungry series, maybe someday I will find time to see them all. Some series I just had to stop because of lack of time.
3. At the moment I will say that movies because they are not as time-consuming as the TV series.
1. Oh yea, I'm a big fan of Game of Thrones. Unfortunately I'm slightly disappointed with the latest season, but I still have hope that the last two episodes will be better, we will see ;)
ReplyDelete2. Form time to time I do watch other TV Series, recently I started watching Silicon Valley, but I need to find more time to be able to finish it.
3. I don't have a preference, but I tend to watch TV Series more often since the episodes are much shorter, and I don't have to commit over an hour to watch them.
I used to be a big fun of GOT, but I just find it hard to follow when TV series span across to many seasons. I have to say I love the character creation, sceneries, and overall plot, but I feel it could be compressed a bit, most of the GOT books fans would probably most likely spank me for this but that just as I feel.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest its exactly the same when it comes to other TV series I have started, its just taking to much time that I could use on some other things.
Stepping to the third question ... right now my answer would be that I prefer the movies over TV series simply due to the fact that its just shorter :)
Game of Thrones used to be one of my favourite TV shows. It had an engaging story and multiple deep and charismatic characters Tywin, Olenna, Oberyn or Ned just to name a few. On top of that it was unpredictable and main protagonists didn't have plot armour. Unfortunately I think GoT went downhill once HBO run out of source material, George R.R. Martin books. I still think it is a good show with stunning visuals and outstanding soundtrack but it lost a lot of it's early charm.
ReplyDeleteOutside of Game of Thrones I do watch other TV shows occasionally. Recently I finished The Umbrella Academy. I also plan to watch Breaking Bad. In general I prefer TV shows over movies. They are longer and have more time to develop likeable characters and complex plots. Unfortunately a lot of successful productions are dragged on for too long and fail to maintain high quality in later seasons. My favourite TV series usually have 2 or 3 seasons.
I have never seen any episode of "Game of thrones" because I was not interested in Fantazy. After reading the reviews and getting acquainted with the views of the viewers, I became eager to watch this series. Unfortunately, I do not have much time for studying. Watching the series also belongs to the category of deferred pleas for the time after graduation. From the previously watched series I can mention: Dr.House, Mr.Robot and Black Mirror. Unfortunately, I can not say of any of them that I have watched all available episodes - the topic of lack of time is again coming back. I know how immersive watching TV shows can be, so I do not even start.
ReplyDeleteI would like to organize my time so that I would not have to postpone watching TV shows ;-)
I love this series from HBO. I’ve watched every episode 4 or 5 times. My first time with Game of Thrones was when 4 season was released. I was watching first season almost without brake (it was long night). Characters, plot, costumes, all of those create amazing story, that make me and many people addicted to GoT. Other worth watching series are in my opinion: Breaking Bad, Suits and also polish HBO productions: Wataha, Pakt, Belfer (only 1 season). I like series and movies at the same level.
ReplyDeleteI have seen all GoT episodes and really enjoyed but honestly, last season really disappointed me (for now). Love that series for many plot twists, strong characters and much more complex and diverse world than just typical duel between good and evil.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I watched many other TV series (mostly, from Netflix) like Breaking Bad, Sherlock Holmes or Peaky Blinders. I prefer TV series more than movies, as I can empathise with the world for longer time. Also, sometimes it easier to decide "Okay, it's just 40mins" for TV series than around 2h for full movie.
Moreover, current TV series use much more bigger budget than even before and productions are better, with famous actors and good writing (but last GoT episodes are totally in opposite, unfortunately).

ReplyDeleteI know this TV series, it's very popular among my friends. However, I did not watch any episode or read any of George Martin's books. I am quite busy and I really do not have time to "get involved" in anything - eg whenever I decide to read a book, I try to finish it in one evening (I do not want to return to it later and prefer to concentrate on other duties instead) ). The same applies to movies - I like movies that last about 90 minutes. Recently I was really into in American Horror Story / American Crime Story (unfortunately, these series are not very popular in Poland). Each chapter has a different plot and characters, and the individual subseries are only loosely connected, which is why I was not too absorbed in it. In the past I was a big fan of Prison Break (I watched 3 series, then the whole story became too complicated and even ridiculous to follow it)
ReplyDeleteArtur Mikolajewski
DeleteUnfortunately I have never seen a single episode of the game of thrones. The only thing I know is that it was shot in Dubrovnik and has been a great advertisement for Croatia. I hope this will be the case with „The Witcher” being shot by Netflix in Poland.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite TV series are „The Simpsons”.
I really enjoy the humour, as well as the countless cultural references. The characters in the show are very lively and every person different from another. I admire the incredible amount of stories, that it’s been going on for 30 years and every episode tells a unique storyline.
I think I prefer movies, since I only watch one or two tv series.
I'm not a big movie/TV watcher, I don't even have a TV. But Game of Thrones one of few TV series that I really enjoy watching. The plot twists are awesome, you never know what to expect from the next episode. Sadly only two episodes left before the final.
ReplyDeleteWhat about other TV series... as I said I don't even have TV and there is not many good series to watch nowadays... well maybe The Witcher from Netflix could be good, but I'm sure they will mess it up, as they usually do with their adaptations. I can say the same about movies. It's hard for me to find something decent to watch these days.
World loves Game of Thrones because of: sex, kills. Ok, maybe you can add dragons to this list. I did not watch Game of Thrones because I do not have time for it (or maybe it is not appealing for me so much), however my opinion is based on my friend's incentives. Maybe you can sell me better this series? The opinions are mixed.
ReplyDeleteGame of thrones is one of the most popular series that comes to my mind when I'm thinking about TV productions. Unfortunately I watched only first season but propably when the show will end I will give it a try. I definitely seen more movies then TV series mostly becouse I prefer to watch all story at once that's why Netflix is my bread and butter but before I had a very few productions on my list. To be honest I don't have a preference besides the problem of waiting for the next episode I'm enjoying both movies and TV series as well as animated productions if I'm finding the story fascinating.
ReplyDelete1. No, but I've heard about it a lot from social medias and adverts. My friends are hardly into it but I'm scared of starting it due to numbers of episodes.
ReplyDelete2. I watch other tv series such as Breaking Bad. I also enjoyed a lot Band of Brothers which is not hardly popular. But it definitely deserves more attention.
3. Personally I prefer movies cause tv series are addicting me. When I start a series I can waste whole week just to watch it and I can't allow for that in my life during studying and working
Of course I watch the Game Thrones. Perhaps the more appropriate question would be who has not seen it yet? 😊 I think it's one of the best series I've ever seen and I'm its big, though disappointed with the last season so far, fan. Unlike others, I did not read the book and honestly, it is not on top of my list of books to read. Yes, I watch other series. They are very popular now and partly because of this I try to be familiar with the most appreciated productions in the world. Movies and series are two completely different things. Movies are worth watching in the cinema, while the series are great at home. I believe that both series and films complement each other perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Game of Thrones, but I wonder if it's worth watching.
ReplyDeleteYes, I watch several TV series, i. a.: Arrow, the Marvel series, fantasy and historical.
Actually, I watched it :) Well, there is no time lately....
Serial or film? It's not a simple question, it's not possible to opt for one thing or another. Both the film and the series must be interesting and attracted in front of the screen or to the cinema. I don't have any specific rules. I watch a trailer of a movie or a series. and if I like it, I watch it. I especially like to watch fantasy, horror and even comedies.
1. Yes I have seen every episode of it. I'm a huge fan of it and I absolutely love it. I think more people should watch it because it's awesome.
ReplyDelete2. Yes I do watch other TV series such as Breaking Bad, Outlander, House of Cards, Peaky Blinders, Sex Education... I find it very entertaining and instructive. TV series are not just silly movies, you can find a lot of knowledge in it.
3. I much more prefer TV series because it is one story like in a movie but told in much more details. I like the moment when you are waiting for the next episode and you never know what will happen next.
1) Do you ever seen Game of Thrones?
ReplyDelete2) Do you watch other TV series?
3) Do you prefer movies or TV series?
1. Yes, so far I have watched all episodes :D
2. Yep ;p I've watched a lot in my life...
3. It depends on the movie or the serie. Both have potential and there are good and bad ones at the two of sides.
