  1. Honestly I have no answer for the question from the title...
I have seen "ISIS" in headlines recently, but I haven't read those articles. To be honest... this topic is new for me. Frankly speaking... I suppose those women are just stupid, simply as it is. I have no another explanation for this situation. And yes... this is worrying. But what can we do? I have to ask you if you know about any cases of polish women joining ISIS?

  2. That is a really interesting topic but I think ‘manipulation’ is an answer for that question. I have read few articles about people who are joining terrorist organizations that are manipulating those people. Members of those groups try to build close relation with potential candidate and use anything to reach that goal, e. g. they lie and create totally unreal vision of that ‘community’. Of course when victims see how it really looks like it is unfortunately too late for them to run away…

  3. It's a hard topic, but I think it's a matter of one's own believes. I can come up with so many other things I do not understand in humans behaviour:

    1. Why people don't vote and then complain about the results?
    2. Why people go to church if they do not believe?
    3. Why women are still dating men, who treats them bad?
    4. Why do people do drugs?
    5. Should gay people be allowed to get married/adopt children?
    6. Why someone likes pain (sexual stimulation)?
    7. Should catholic priests have wifes?

We can argue a lot about those and other topics and still, I don’t think we can convince one another. I believe that those women have their own reasons for joining this organisation and those are good enough for them. Maybe they wanted to do something, or they believe in the cause or even they don’t want to do something in their boring lives and feel the kick.

  4. It's obviously hard to tell why, when we're not a part of Islamic culture, but these women might be joining ISIS for several reasons:
    1. Recruitment (which also includes foreign countries) - as Tomasz said, there are vast array of articles on terrorist organizations' recruitment processes
    2. Need to prove that women are relevant and can play a role in an islamic state
    3. Fear of living the 'traditional' women's life in Islamic states

  5. Sometimes I feel like I live in a dream, because how can some of the absurd situations we hear about every day be real..? This is yet another example of that. We can only guess what's going on in ISIS follower's heads. My guess is, that they feel like violence is the only way to change something. Well...it's the easiest way for sure. The appeal of such organisations is the illusion that when the whole world focuses on you, you can be heard and matter in any way. Maybe those women naively think that they can prove themselves this way and gain respect?

  7. I am terrified of seeing a recording in which a woman carries a rifle on his back. Looking at this article and watched the attached movies, I'm thinking "Why women decide on this life". It seems to Me that, emigration there and consensus on such a lifestyle gives them security, what had no in country which they lived. I assume that a woman who user a fluent French language is actually good, but Is She telling the truth to his family? Maybe She does not want to worry his family. Nevertheless, I hope that is what happens there will change.

  8. It is hard for me to answer on that question. To be hones I have very big problems with understanding their culture.
As for me women their will use every oportiunity to change their lives. If I'm correct they have very little rights so they don't have many options.
As for me they are forgeting what their religion is about, they just don't understand it

  9. As we can see all over the world, many countries fear about new treat that comes from Islamic State. Sometime ago we considered the most hazard organization was Al-Kaida, so nowadays we are wisely and we are looking to ISIS or Jihadist with distrust. I don’t really know why women join those organizations but I think the reason is connected with their private situation. Maybe the current life doesn’t suite their vision of perfect life. ISIS knows about it and they propose “better” life which could satisfy their needs. It`s like a sect and it grow rapidly. We must be prepared for those dangers because we couldn’t allow them to do terrible things in relation to normal, democratic and stable people.

  10. It's really hard to tell anything meaningful from this article. It lacks importand data such as the scale of the fenomenom, and social background of those woman. We do not know whether they were raised in muslim families, or they are just bored with stable life, looking for adventure. There is alot of factors that may influence that kind of decision and none of them is really analyzed in the source. Also we should remember, that we are free to choose whatever we want with all the consequences of it.

  11. When i read about it, I couldn't belive. I was reading about 400 brits joining them as well. What they are thinking about? Those people were raised in GB with quite liberal system, and now they are fanatics ready to kill. I really can't belive that.

  12. Muslim women might be joining ISIS because of their beliefs - their religion might be luring them into it.

And women from Western societies? Maybe the mixture of the promise of adventure and ignorance?

  13. My opinion is similar to that of the previous commenter. The original article is very light on background and doesn't

really give us insight into heart of the problem.
I looked for some answers on the net and found some interesting articles. It seems that most of western women travelling

to join ISIS are childrens of muslim imigrants.
As hard as it is for us to belive they want to support ISIS men in fight with infidel world and they are fully aware of their position in this fanatic muslim society.
This article gives good overview of the situation:

  14. Answering the topic question, ISIS ideals is based on terrorism, war and men’s law. And this is not stupidity of those women but deeply rooted Islamic culture. Women always had limited rights in muslims countries, in some more, in some less. Unfortunately ISIS is constructed on worst ideas of Islamic religion which allows to kill people. In that way, those women dose not have a choice and they are forced to join organization. Others profess ideals of ISIS and join themselves to fight with men. They can be very dangerous not only in their lands. There is still rising number of Islamic immigrants in west countries. If expansion of ISIS won’t be stopped, citizens of Europe and US can be afraid of terrorists attacks for example like those in Russia before Sochi olimpic games.

  15. In my opinion women from European countries don't know about real situation and circumstances which are in the Iraq and Syria. They want to marry with a man and they have no idea about the consequences related to marriage with Muslims. I know personally a few people from Glasgow who knows these type of relationships and all of them were based on lies. These women were lying a few months before marriage and then they’re going for a "honey month" in Iraq - after that, what often happened, they were convinced to stay there and live like a slave.
I can't believe that people are so naive though, a lot of information are available on TV and Internet!
